Christmas Trains

Any of you put up a train at Christmas time? Let' see 'em.
I just started liking model trains at Thanksgiving when my father busted out his set from the 40's. He was passing it on to my nephew (the oldest grandson) to keep it in the family. I went on ebay and bought a few and set them up around my small tree.

Any one else into model trains?

I was amazed at how many people are in to this hobby. I went to a train store on a Saturday and it was a crowded store with young and old enjoying trains. I was quite surprised.

Why did you get out of it? limited space, money, just lost interest?

I've have an HO gauge, and EVERY year, tell my daughters we're going to mount it on a board and set it up and never do. This year will be no exception.

It looks like this and I also have a yard engine and a few more cars.

I also have an American Flyer S gauge that a neighbor gave me. It doesn't work though and the local train shop said it isn't worth spending the money to fix it. Too bad.

Nice Ches! American Flyers don't get enough love. They are made really well and you could probably fix it yourself. Fixing them is what I enjoy the most. I could care less about watching them go in a circle, but there is a great feeling when you take a loco that doesn't work at all and you bring it back to life.

Why are boobs like toy trains?

They were meant for the kids, but Dad love playing with them too.

I'll show myself out.

We bought my son the Polar Express a few years ago to put under the tree.

Next year, we may buy him an N scale set to use year-round.

Was never into them, but was friends with a kid with was an only child. Needless to say, that kid had a ****ton of toys, including some kickass train sets.

We used to have one under the tree but got tired of the cats attacking it all the time....

What gauge?

If I'm not mistaken, there was an HO gauge out but it was only for a limited time. I think the G and O gauge's are plentiful.

Maybe I'll give it a shot and try to fix it.

Technically O-27, then O. I'm sure yours is an O. O-27's are rare these days if I'm not mistaken.

I had an O-27 when I was a kid (looks just like an O, just a tad smaller). It had these pressed thin metal cars that came with it, the kind that sought out kids fingers and would slice them open. lol

LOL. Especially the "caboose", should that rarity ever be offered.
