The day the Rex Ryan era went to hell. Mark Sanchez and Dustin Keller were ruined that day. Don't believe me? Watch highlights of the game. The Ravens destroyed Sanchez and shattered his confidence and he hasn't been the same since, partially thanks to the Baxter fiasco, which goes back to Ryan and Tanny as they didn't replace Turner. The week before Oakland, Sanchez kept pushing us back because the defense couldn't stop ****. Dustin Keller? He was already scared to go over the middle because of Ray Lewis in 2010, but this was icing on the cake. He hasn't made five impact plays over the middle since that game.

Here is Mark Sanchez's qb ratings the 4 games following that raven game:
vs NE - 106
vs Miami - 96
vs SD - 87
vs Buff - 92

He had 7 tds and 2 ints in these 4 games.

There is no correlation between that game and Sanchez's decline.

All soft defenses. After this game, the Mason quote came out too, which fractured the locker room.

He cant function against soft defenses now. So something had to happen between that time.

its pretty simple. Mark crapped the bed in the final 3 games last year when we needed him most. It was the 1st time that defense and a running game were not going to be enough. It was on his shoulders and he blew it. and he has progressively lost confidence since them and its over now.

Sanchez was only ever a game manager. What is hard to understand here?

The game's he dominated were outliers and there were what, 2? 3?

And even they were nowhere near the "norm" for a QB dominating a game. He has never broken 400 yards passing.

Yes, but it really started in the eagles game the week before. Looking at his stats, that is where you seeing a bad trend in his qb rating.

QB rating is fine if you want to talk stats but is meaningless in this topic. Sanchez had some good games this season too but that's not the point. That ravens game did something to him... He never played scared before that, he would step up in big spots instead of shrinking. Since that ravens game he's looked scared and crumbles under pressure every time

Heck, the Ravens have had free rent in Mark's head since his 1st nfl game which you may remember was an exhibition against the Ravens.

Watching the Ravens defensive players in that game, it was like watching a nature show with lions or sharks or something, hunting their prey. They were out for blood and they got it. Anyone thinks the Jets 'coddled' or 'took care' of Sanchez properly needs to rewatch that.

Speaking of dates...

December 24, 2011:

The play that was the beginning of the end of the Rex Ryan era. Everything went downhill after this.

this play will always haunt me along with the game, jetsfan920.
