I love cope and Wilk, they just don't seem to be fast. We need some speed too.
True, they lack the speed of a JPP or Aldon Smith. A speedy OLB will do wonders for this defense. Hope they can fill that need among other things in next April's draft.

Seriously, I know everyone wants a beast pass rusher. Who doesn't? But help this f'n offense already.

If they could atleast average 21 points a game, the defense would be better just from that alone.

Nice pick by Tanny and Rex. Cannot wait to see him become the a 10+ sack man in a 4-3.

Coples could just lose some weight and gain speed like John Abraham did. And seriously, being an edge rusher in the NFL is all about technique and quickness not straight line speed. I really doubt Michael Strahan had a sub 5.0 40 towards the end of his career. Ditto for J-Abe.

DE's DT's.... QB's WR's

it's how you win in the modern NFL

Today's NFL is about 3 positions (in order of importance):

1. QB

2. (tie) Pass Rusher and WR

O-line is critical. See Steelers.

Yeah they won a Super Bowl just 4 years ago with maybe the worst O-line in the entire NFL.

Giants OL was not good last year either. Quick passes to TE and WR's in the flats compensate for a bad OL quickly.

Coples is about as fast a 280-290lbs guy as you're going to find.

Wilkerson is about as fast a 315lbs guy you're going to find. The guy runs a sub 5.0 for crying out loud.

Mendenhall ran for 120 and a touch to get them into the SB, while Wayne Hunter was tipping off the Def about the plays we were running.

But we still lack that monster from the outside.McIntyre stepped up but we need that grade A talent at OLB that would complete this defense.

LOL, Chandler Jones and Williams don't play the run, like Mo or Coples.

Mo has really been a beast this season. The future of the Jets D-Line definitely looks bright.

I hope they re-sign Mike Devito this off-season, he has quietly had a very good season as well.

I like DeVito but Coples has to start next year. If DeVito stays then only to give QC or Mo some rest or in obvious run situations...

Coples can still start - because Devito also rotates in at NT and is one of the back-up NT's behind Pouha unless Damon Harrison takes over that role next season and then there is Kendrick Ellis too, so who knows.
