How to fix inaccurate student loan servicing issues???

For 5 years my student loans were serviced through ACS Education Services. I always paid off on time, and occasionally paid extra off.

Recently, ACS Education Services has dumped a bunch of their student loans on to Brazos Loan Servicing. For my loan, they did not report to Brazos any of the early money I paid off. Moreoever, since I did everything with ACS Education Services through e-statements, I have no record of my last balance with ACS Education Services. The moment my loan was transferred to Brazos, my ACS log-in stopped working. And when I called customer service, they told me they are not allowed to comment or look at former accounts. When I asked how I could attain my e-statements now that my account was locked out, she told me I could go to NSLDS, and then when I asked her why my early payments weren't reflected in the transferred loan to Brazos, she hung up on me.

I went to NSLDS, got the info. http://www.nslds.ed.gov/nslds_SA/

I then called Brazos, and they were a little nicer. I told her NSLDS didn't match my loan transfer statement from Brazos. We walked through, and confirmed the numbers didn't match. She then re-directed me to NYS HESC, my loan originator.

Unfortunately, this all took place when Sandy hit, and I couldn't reach NYS HESC. Now I have some free time and plan to pursue that path... but realistically, what else can I do? I am anticipating being bounced around some more, and I bet I am not the only 20-something stuck with this kind of problem due to big corporations screwing the little guy.

DEBT is bad, student loans are the arm pit of banking, don't expect much.

It seems nowadays if you're owed some money, whatever company owes it to you will dick you around on the phone for hours, with hang-ups, transfers, etc. over and over, until you get so fed up you just give up and let them have your money.

Exactly.

So I called the "good guys" today who are supposed to be able to help -- hesc.com. Tried calling three seperate times with three seperate number menu options. Each time I spoke to a person all they cared was whether I was in default. When I said No and that I have made every payment I was immediately transfered or hung up on.

On the third try, an operator told me I needed to speak to the NSLDS Conflict Resolution Center, and transferred me there. It turns out the Resolution Center is just one lady named Linda who is on vacation. I called back a fourth time and asked for the # to the Resolution Center and was told it is never given out and the only way to contact them is to leave a message. Wow, and these are the "good guys" here to help.

That said, googling NSLDS data conflict resolution led me to some hopeful powerpoints that Linda is in fact the specialist who can help...

Quick update.

Linda at NYS HESC hasn't yet called me back, after promising to do so. I plan to bug her tomorrow morning as to where my case stands.

You might write your congressman and send the letter registered and document everything you can think of. cc the letter to whoever is fcking you and include a lawyer.

Document everything and save in a file. Keep all discussions in written form. All phone calls document with exact time etc. and results of phone call etc eg transfered etc.

Now you have something that you can show a judge for credible/believable resolution. Good luck

Good idea. I always threaten to call the state Attorney General. That actually carries weight.
