Mike Pettine is Deep Throat.

According to Francessa, he says everyone in the Jets organization knows that Pettine has been the unnamed source this year.

Which is probably why we'll see Thurman as the defensive coordinator.

Probably last year as well.

We need to blow the whole thing up.

What does it say about Rex that his right hand man sells him out. Rex has done nothing but promote Pettine.

So true. What a scumbag Pettine is to do that to Rex.

But it also says Rex is a poor judge of character.

Pettine should be fired today. It would be mostly symbolic but still I have no idea why Rex allows this sh*t.

Disagree... Think Rex can win a super bowl which is all you want in the head coach you have. The ability to win it. Then just get the players around them.

Plus, by that logic, what Mangini did to Belichick was worse so Belichick should have been fired... That **** is going to happen in life.

If it's true because Francesa is not the most trustworthy person.

Again, look at the Belichick situation with Mangini. Hell, even a couple of his other assistants.

No. Mangini doesn't equate bc he didn't sabotage his own team. You must see that difference.

Like Francessa or not, he doesnt say stuff like that unless he knows it to be true.

I've heard he's quite the cocky SOB so wouldn't be surprised. He hit on one of my best friend's exes awhile back drunk out of his mind basically with the line - don't you know who I am??

Or Pettine already sees himself as a goner (according to reports) so he doesn't view it as his own team any more.

Same concept as those guys under Belichick have accepted jobs elsewhere but he pretty much removes all access they have to the Pats while they are still there.

The FAN Jet guy Peter Scwartz didn't deny it when Francesa said everyone covering the Jets knows Pettine is Mehta's source.

Francesa's like the godfather at WFAN, say something about him or disagree with him and you'll find yourself out of a job. No reason for Schwartz to stick his neck out.

I have doubts about this one. Didn't be just refuse an extension? Why offer is "everyone knew he was the unnamed source?"

if so, he gots to go. Pettine is just pissed Rex doesn't let him have total control of the D. Pettine is just a D Coordinator in name.

According to Fatty, Mehta has been sitting on the Pettine contract story for months. Pettine turned down an extension months ago according to him.

There is actually a HUGE silver lining here.

Rex's biggest fault is his blind loyalty to players and coaches and his lack of a "businesslike attitude" when it comes to hiring/firing/benching, maybe a big stab in the back will harden rex into the coach he should be.

Rex is pretty old for a person to still not "get it" that there are VERY few people in life you can trust and count on....but everyone learns it at some point, so I honestly hope it comes out that it was Pettine, a guy who was literally nothing before rex brought him with him, who cared more about himself then the team, and took every opportunity to break down what Rex was trying to build.

Might be exactly what Rex needs to tighten things up and start acting like a real Boss rather then everyones friend.
