Why does the Jets go out and get these no-name players from the CFL?

There's a reason they're in the CFL and not the NFL......

This team is an international embarassment. I was in Europe last week watching some good old SkySport, and they had a fluff piece about a Norwegian bloke who made some YouTube videos of him placekicking trick shots. Absolutely no form or leg strength. They said he "really wanted to play in the NFL". But so far, "only one team has given him a tryout, the New York Jets."

Doug Flutie and Warren Moon say hi. So do Joe Theismann, Jeff Garcia, "Rocket" Ismail, and Cookie Gilchrist.

I agree we haven't picked any jewels yet but to say there isn't talent in the CFL or other places is not true. Kudos to the Jets for looking for talent besides the NFL.

Interesting

I found this:"Kackert's vertical jump is a very solid 38" that would have had him in the top 5 among running back at the combine, but it's his 27 bench press reps that leaps off the page. Those numbers would've been the top amongst running backs at the combine and with 4.43 speed, Kackert is by no means slow.

Watching the highlights you can't help but to love Kackert. What strikes me most in his highlights is the elite balance he displays and the strength that goes with it. He clearly puts his heart into the game and plays with a chip on his shoulder similar to that of MJD. However, the question begs why a player like Chad Kackert would go undrafted."

I bet he'd turn out to be a bust for us.

Why? Because we're the Jets.

If he was signed to another team, he'd probably excel.

Of course I hope I'm wrong and he actually is, at the very least, a solid running back for the team and has a future....

A no to Kackert. No great prospect at all.

For CFL prospects the #1 guy I would look at is Chris Williams, slot receiver kick returner. I would equate him to an Andrew Hawkins type of player but a dangerous kick return guy.

Also a guy name Chevon Walker, RB who is Chris Johnstone light type of player. Super fast and can break the big run.

Ted Laurent, dlineman. Not huge but a good player.

CFL fans were pumping chad owens for the jets last year and he was league mvp this year.

Jets fans infatuation with off the radar projects is never-ending.

It would be nice if our GM could actually find players in the draft or from other teams without having to scour the CFL and Australian Rules Football.
