ESPN has a good article on that today.

In many ways he was following his owner's wishes. For that reason I feel sorry for him being made the fall guy.
Win now? wtf? Of course it was win now as the team was ready to win rex's 1st two years. Instead they drafted a crappy one year college QB. He made made errors and then compounded them, (see Holmes big deal and worse yet the sanchez extension) and that is why he had to go.

You're right.

Why should anyone comment on Mike Tannenbaum and his comments in a thread that's dedicated to Mike Tannenbaum and his comments.

The Jets went from drafting hi character guys and signing them long term to getting bad boys on the last years of contracts with the philosophy that "Rex can handle them." They passed on drafting a guy like Freeman in their assigned draft spot to trade up, make a splash and draft the GQ USC quarterback.

All those moves backfired.

Hahahaa I definitely hear that. Very few are unique and it all sounds the same.

But these guys are on another level.
There's Phish, and then there's everyone else.

Back on the subject tho, I'm just so thankful he keeps no ties to the organization. That was a big fear of mine.

I'm thinking he'll end up under Bellichick in some form or fashion.

Ah yes, the Fernando's Hideaway method to drafting...

Better to look good, than to play good!

don't pay any attention to sg3. Tebow refused to sign an autograph for him in the Village and he has been in a dither ever since. Just give him

While Tannenbaum made some horrible decisions, I can't sit here and bash the guy today. He's been a part of this franchise during it's most successful run in their history, and he helped assemble a roster that has been in the post season more times than not since 1997. That being said, it was time to move on, and I wish him the best of luck wherever he may end up (unless if it is in the AFC east)

Right. His first draft was probably one of the best drafts in the history of the team. When Rex became part of the draft room the results changed very rapidly.

Classy

I feel bad for Mike the person, it's tough to lose your job.

But as a GM, he sealed his fate with some horrible moves, and we need a fresh start.

Best of luck Tanny!

The guy makes a "farewell" statement and some of you are up in arms on what he said.

WHO CARES WHAT HE SAID?????

It makes no difference either way.....he could've said he was King of the friggin' world and it wouldn't matter. He's gone and that's all that matters.

It's clearly a very good accomplishment. Obviously not winning the super bowl but it's something that deserves to be mentioned. Hell, it's only happened a handful of times in this team's pathetic history and he had a big part in two of them.
It means the team got to two consecutive AFCCG's.

Can you name the losing teams in the last 10 AFC and NFC Championship games (without looking it up)?

See what I mean?
