What should happen and what will happen are two very different things. Given that, I say Yes.

Media tells me even he'd be an upgrade over Rex.

He's toast.

No intellectually bereft buffoons allowed in a polished, professional organization.

What say you?
Rex will be our lame duck head coach.

Are you all revved up?

Rex will be the Jets HC next season and hopefully beyond that.

I think he can right the ship.

$6m reasons say he'll be HC in 2013 and gone January 2014.

And if Woody fires him sooner I will give Woody a standing O!

I can see the argument that the new GM will need to be able to evaluate, and we shouldn't want the new GM to be restricted... But...

I think it's clear Rex comes back, the owner wants him back, and that part of the GM recruiting process will involve the notion that the owner would like Rex back. Unless the candidate is so strong and blows Woody and his staff away, but doesn't want Rex, Rex is back.

I personally want him back because he deserves the opportunity to right the ship. I do think he will learn from the mistakes he's made, I think the losing will battle harden him and humble him. He's got all the qualities that a fan would want to have in a HC, Damian Woody said it best, Rex has the ability to lead beyond the x's and o's, and that is the biggest part of the challenge, leading the team. We all know his x's and o's are D are top notch, and that he needs to get more involved and better on the offensive side of the ball. The right OC will go a long way, that, and obviously much better QB play and better talent on offense, the Jets need playmakers.

Another reason why he stays, is because Woody and the Jets are carrying out a methodical GM search and will interview a lot of candidates, meanwhile, the top HC's are already being interviewed, and will start filling spots available, narrowing the playing field for the new Jets GM to make any changes should he choose.

Based on the events this week so far, even with Rex vacationing, still wearing Jets gear, the announcement that both Rex and Woody will be in front of the press next Tuesday, that for me was the biggest sign.

Rex should have been fired 1 year ago. It will be 1 more year before Woody actually does fire him. A lot of Rex fans will be surprised at how little interest other teams have in hiring Rex as HC.

He might be the opening day coach in 2013, but do you guys actually think he will still be here after week 17? I don't.

Yes.

If the Jets make the playoffs in 2013, he'll be the coach in 2014 also. If the Jets miss the playoffs in 2013, he'll get fired after the 2013 season.

I hope he agrees to step down to DC for 2013 but that's quite unlikely.

Playoffs? Playoffs? You're talking about playoffs?

If they start out 1-4, which seems rather likely at this point, he's gone.
