Or keep Rex's press conference scheduled for Tuesday and make Neil Glatt - the Jets' club president, who is responsible for the Jets' business operations - available on Saturday. That would be compliant with the letter of the policy and would probably drive the reporters batty.

"Neil, what's the status of Tony Sparano?"

"Sorry, guys, that's not really my area, so I can't say."

"Will Sanchez be on the team next season?"

"I'm not a player-personnel guy. I have no idea one way or the other, and even if I had an opinion, it would be irrelevant"

"Is Rex still the head coach?'

"Guys, I handle the business end of things. Now, does anyone have any stadium sponsorship questions they want to ask?"

*crickets*

It would be the NYJ equivalent of "what's a nubian?"

Yes the media is in a total whinefest but how exactly are the Jets "fighting back"?

Why the f do they need to fight at all?

Are writers writing articles about how dysfunctional the Giants are?

I mean, they're a team with a pro bowl QB who managed to miss the playoffs. What the **** is their excuse? Too busy butt slamming each other? Tom Cougjlins Viagra addiction? Is Eli living in his brothers shadow because of his success in Denver?

Doesn't the policy say when the season ends teams must make people available to the media? Well, what determines when the season is over? The language seems like it is not stating when a individual teams season is over but the season in general. That seems really vague. Doesn't the season technically end after the Superbowl?

Pretend you are at work and you tell your hr rep things about work and then your rep turns around and tells everyone who will listen what you said in the worst possible light. Your only way to fight back would
be to no longer speak to your rep or only when you absolutely had to. Your rep then tells everyone something is wrong with you and you are discfunctional because you don't confide in her any more.

No sure either. I guess by using the "keep them in the dark" approach?

+1 Did the Giants quit on Coughlin losing to the Falcons 34-0 and the Ravens 33-14 which killed their playoff hopes..

I agree, they don't need to 'fight back', I'm glad they're giving the press the silent treatment, I just want to know what the OP thinks is 'fighting back' because it's not in the post - unless I missed it.

FN hilarious "JETS fight back against the media"

Where were the JET players when we wanted them to fight against the oponent?
**** no they are not.

This article perfectly sums up my feelings about the media and the season. The Jets were bad, the reporters made it far worse by being jackasses about EVERYTHING.

As much as I despise how much better the giants are perceived in NY to be honest they have earned the right not to be F***** with by the media for at least 10 years imo

Shut them out

Who needs them Its a great point that the Jets make money for them
If the Jets shut out all the media, its the media's loss

Anybody remember in 79 when the 9-7 Rams won the NFC title game
and told Brent Musburger and the NFL to shove it. Thy locked them out of the post game celebration. Right on Rams. The media ripped you all year
and they came begging to be in on the fun
The Rams then went on and played inspired and nearly beat the mighty Steelers

My wish is the new GM is a hard line guy and takes the position of
We are the Jets We play to win we are no longer your whipping boys

Just go out and beat the crap out of the opponent
Let the media play with the rest of the NFL The Jets are
here to win a superbowl Nothing else MATTERS

You know if we ever win another SB all of this crap will go away LOL

I agee with the excellent OP and have been trying to calm friends down and to make them believe that the staff in place now is in no way going to be the staff for next season.

Granted, Woody loves attention, however, he is also the CEO of a Fortune 500 Company and a billionaire. He is well aware of the chain of command in an organization. The new GM should and will decide the Coaching staff, not the owner. The owner decides the GM.

I'd bet a whole lotta cash that Rex is a goner too..eventually.

No it wouldn't. It would just make it 10 X's worse.

Look at it. The Jets are a team with no offensive weapons who didn't make the playoffs.

ARGGGHH! THE HUMANITY!!!

The Giants are a team with the same offensive weapons that won a Superbowl a minute ago.

OH. THAT'S OK!!! BUT THE JETS HAVEN'T HAD A PRESS CONFERENCE!!! IM SUING!!!!

Nothing is changing. The Jets arent taking a stand. They will go right back to being an open door circus in their quest to win the back page.
I have a feeling you are right about this...
