I doubt that happens because both Heckert and Dorsey are looking at GM jobs.

Agreed. From what I've been reading, it seems that Heckert is the favorite. So, that would leave Dorsey to the rest of us.

Is he subject to a compensatory pick for the Jets?

Are't they both GM candidates?

I was thinking the same thing.

And since he was a pro-bowler this season, couldn't we get as high as a 3rd round pick for him walking?

I believe so, but not until 2014 draft, I think.

I would the Jets will get 0 compensatory picks this year, as I don't think they lost any free agents of value. I believe (and someone correct if I'm wrong) compensation is based on what the FA does in his first season with a new team, among other things.

However, with Keller, Landry, Greene, Bell, Devito all who could be starters on other teams and all Free Agents, I could see the Jets getting a bunch in 2014. Especially, if they don't make much of a move this offseason.

Ex-Browns GM Tom Heckert is interviewing with the Jets tomorrow. So he and Gamble both on deck tomorrow. #nyj

If true that adds even more incentive for the GM for that next year.

Not really. My two favorites are Gamble & Caldwell. Just saying that if it's true, then neither would have fit in here. I want someone who thinks he's the Sh!t, and doesn't want to be #2 any more!

It does make for an interesting question:

Say Keller, Greene and Landry sign elsewhere.

I could see the Jets getting a couple 5th round picks of compensation if they play the way they did in 2012 (and Keller stays healthy). Does that become consideration for FA signings?

Especially considering they will only be about $20M under the cap with only 40 legit players signed (before any reworking of contracts).
