Even though we're pretty much certain Rex is staying and whatever GM is hired knows this, in the event the new GM asks Rex to be the DC only, Rex would be a fool to resign. Instead, he would probably refuse and then be fired. Woody would then be responsible for paying him the remainder of his contract, right?

Like i've been saying all week. Ryan has a good rep, as a coach, is well liked by his peers, and its not a surprise that a top candidate would accept the job, knowing Rex is the HC.

Excellent question Nike. Sure it's a remote possibilty that this scenario goes down but I am fairly certain the people directly involved are thinking through ALL of the "what ifs".

If it were to go down like this, Ryan would drop the theatrical crying and blathering about being a Jet for life like a hot potato.

Why would he resign? If Rex resigns, he forfeits his head coach salary. If he is fired, he gets his salary for the next 2 years, plus a DC salary.
