He's done just about everything....

Who knows if he'll be a good or bad GM..But for some to come here and say with certainty he sux is stupid..

I agree, but for some to come on here and say he'll be better than Tannenbaum because he's a "football guy" is stupid as well.

I was just elaborating on what the other poster said, about how it's possible that Woody is so in love with Rex that he's going out of his way to give him a GM that wants him to succeed and/or that we're such a sad-sack organization right now we have to take sloppy-seconds because none of the A++ guys want to come here with the clown still running the circus. It's also possible this guy is going to be great and we've just taken our first steps towards the 2016 Super Bowl. Bill Polian is helping us, I feel good about that I guess.

While I would have loved a younger Bill Polian as our GM, he is too old now. I want a GM with a longer shelf life. But I am glad he has been advising the Jets.

The only guy I wanted more was the Raven's asst GM, but he won't even take interviews as he is guaranteed the Raven's GM job when Ozzie Newsome retires. I like that Gamble has had such a varied history and more importantly his specialty is talent evaluation. Forget the cap and contract negotiations (which he has experience in anyway).. stockpile talent and everything will take care of itself.

I'm saying Terry Bradway was/is known to be a good talent evaluator, but sucked as a GM.

It's not easy being a good GM.

He does seem to be the Rex Ryan equivalent of GM's. These days, hot GM prospects get a look in their mid-30s. This guys pushing 50 and was passed over numerous times on numerous other teams.

So either:

He is coming from a team that has rebuilt with young talent through the draft so he has that experience.

24 year deep in football operations as opposed to a coffee boy who survived for a few years and got lucky bull****ting his way up.

the fact of the matter is tom gamble knows rex ryan so its safe to say rex is safe for at least this year.

i do look for gamble to replace both the defensive and offensive coordinators with a guy to take over for rex if the jets falter again in 2013.

tom gamble also drafted some really good players that the jets passed up on.

His draft record is generally positive but he's had a fair number of draft busts (like 2012 #1 pick AJ Jenkins). He's no draft wizard imo. Good but not a miracle worker.

EDIT: he drafted lots of stars but also some questionable picks. I bolded the questionable picks from rounds 1 and 2 (don't have time to look up every player from all the rounds).
