Here's the latest on the #Jets GM search. Gamble is the favorite, but is also eyeing other teams, per reports | http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/201...mble_rema.html

In a way, I can't be too upset about this.

Last year I heavily criticized the Jets last for hiring Tony Sparano right off the bat and at not doing their due diligence by looking at more candidates.

So I guess I can't be hypocritical and criticize them for actually doing their due diligence in this instance.

I think that's just a badly written sentence. I believe he was saying that we're looking at Cohen who is working with Bradway, not actually looking at Bradway.

Then why would he cancel his interview with Jacksonville if he knew he wasn't going to sign here?

That's not keeping your opportunities open?

And actually when you think about it, this is not anything we didn't know.

We knew the Jets were going to interview Marc Ross and Scott Cohen (whom I wouldn't mind because he has a football background)

We knew that Gamble moved his interview with San Diego for family reasons.

What new info is there?

Actually, I just read it again. I think it was my quick reading of it that led to my confusion. Either way, I want new blood in at GM. No internal candidates.

The more workable excuse for this to come out now is that Gamble is looking for leverage in negotiations. After all of the positive reporting this just comes out of nowhere. It just screams of an agent putting this news out there to force the Jets to either increase the money or the control.

Hopefully this is just due diligence for both parties. If we don't end up with Gamble, it better be because we're getting a big, unexpected name rather than some mediocre retread like Cohen or Clinkscales (yeah right...)

It is only when you look at the context of next year. After next year, with the cap savings and coach changes the Jets would be even.

Philip Rivers is an NFL quarterback, San Diego is a better city, and Peyton Manning won't be around for more than 2 years if that. He can pretty much control the AFC West for a decade with the right players on the field.

No Tom Brady's or Bill Belichick's out west.

Doesn't make a difference. The bottom line is that somebody is going to fill that seat and that person is going to have football personnel experience, no matter who the candidate is. That's good enough for me.

Everyone here is still butt hurt from the Belichick napkin.

Well we are interviewing two of the top up and coming executives in Gamble and Ross. If we miss out on both of them, I am going to be furious.

If Woody tries to to cram Cohen down our throats will the bull crap line "he's the most qualified guy" then I am taking all my Jets stuff and taking it down to the local homeless shelter. Of course I doubt they'd take the Sanchez jersey.
