Manning is three years Brady's elder. Brady has another four or five years and he's stated before that he wants to play another seven years and that was I believe just a year or two ago.

Every defensive coach knows you just rattle Mark and you have him.We have visited this issue for the last two years, with each year getting progressively worst. The thought of its easier to repair this kid then for Rex to correct some of his faults is just mind boggling.

Reading between the lines, Gamble likely downloaded the Jets/Hard Knocks series and spent the weekend in the fetal position after watching.... Woody attend meetings in his short shorts, Rex and Tranny pining publicly for Revis, and the permanent "overwhelmed" look on Sanchez's face. I suspect Gamble also had the opportunity to delve into the jumbo contracts of many of the underachieving/bad locker room players....which sent him cramping straight to the toilet bowl.
And of course the obligatory Woody Low Balling under the pretext that the Jets are the ones taking a chance....never mind that it was a negative PSL week in Jersey.

Doubt seriously if it will be DeCosta,. and here's why. Ozzie was interviewed friday by Stephen A and Ruocco. When asked why he passed on Rex twice for head coach job, said #1 Rex not diversifed enough(too def.orientated, whereas Harbough also new specials), but bigger point , as he put it, was 'you just want to stay away from the nonsense", to paraphrase. After seeing the sideshow that is Rex for four years, you can see Newsome made right call. DeCosta has trained under Ozzie for years, and more than likely was in all the coaching interviews. Seriously doubt he would leave Ravens when he knows he would be saddled with"Sideshow Bob." If they promote from within, I think we will be able to sit anywhere we want next season.

Why would Brady ever retire....the rest of the AFC East is a clown show. An arthritic/geriatric Brady would still dominate against this feeble division. Just look at the level of commitment of each of these owners. Ross is rolling out the red carpet to the cast of Jersey Shore hoping to impress, the guy up in Buffalo just hired a Big East coach with a record of 25-25, and the Woodman is ducking the press and likely his bankers after this debacle of a season.

The Jets are prepared to re-introduce their head coach, Rex Ryan, and owner, Woody Johnson on Tuesday after a nine-day period of silence.

Having a new general manager there to accompany them, though, seems very unlikely.

Tom Gamble, the 49ers' director of player personnel, has moved well out ahead as of the pack, according to a person with knowledge of the search. The person requested anonymity because the Jets are not making details of the hiring process public. Gamble recently turned down a second interview with the Jacksonville Jaguars to focus on securing the Jets job, according to multiple reports.

However, Gamble will interview for the Chargers GM job on Tuesday, according to a report by ESPN's Adam Schefter. This means that the Jets will eye other candidates as well. Marc Ross, the Giants director of scouting, will come in for an interview Monday. Jets assistant GM Scott Cohen will also be considered for the position. He is running interim football operations alongside former GM and current senior personnel executive Terry Bradway.

Aside from a solid background in player development, scouting and personnel, Gamble was also a quality control coach with the Jets between 1995 and 1996. In his first job, he worked with Rex Ryan’s father, Buddy, who was then head coach with the Philadelphia Eagles. He has been friends with Rex for more than 20 years.

But more importantly, Gamble has had years of experience monitoring undrafted free agents and studying NFL rosters. In assisting 49ers GM Trent Baalke, his job was to bolster depth – something the top-heavy Jets desperately need. A bare-bones roster behind superstars like Darrelle Revis and Santonio Holmes was exposed quickly during a 6-10 campaign in 2012.

The Jets have also interviewed Falcons player personnel director Dave Caldwell, who is reportedly a finalist for the Jaguars’ GM job. Packers director of football operations John Dorsey is reportedly still in the mix.

We already knew literally EVERY single one of those things. That's what this is all about? Things we already knew being re-introduced? SMH.

Everyone who followed the GM search already knew that Gamble was going to be interviewing for other jobs; Ross, Cohen, and Dorsey were going to be interviewed by the Jets; Gamble had to reschedule the Chargers interview due to family issues, etc. There is literally NOTHING new that's being introduced. This is just rehashing old things that we already knew about it.

hes still young, but 3-5 years will be max as the hits will not be worth the risk....

The Jets are doing their due diligence and we should be thankful for that. If Woody is not comfortable with a GM prospect, he should move on.

I'll be more happy when Wilfork retires. I think he's underrated. The guy has had remarkable health for the position he plays and is a royal PITA for the opposition. I think Kris Jenkins was just as good, but couldn't stay healthy.

Yet...he still plays....so....your list is meaningless.

38....that's the age when the wheels have come off for all but one of the modern day elite QBs (Moon was the exception). Manning appears to be the second great QB that will defy father time. In this era of HGH...aka the fountain of youth....its good NFL business to look a blind eye in testing this aging vet QBs. Plus, the crippling effects of knee injuries seems to have diminished as modern medicine has turned ACL/MCL injuries into nothing more than a routine procedure.
