And Rex had nothing to do with it? It's insane to think this was all on Tannenbaum.

Who made Holmes the captain? Who was totally unaware as the HC that Holmes and Sanchez were not talking all of 2011 since week 3?

Who was sitting in the airport with Tannenbaum when it was announced Manning was going to Denver and said we should call Denver and see if Tebow is available?

How can you be so naive?

I absolutely do.

But I don't call the HC, GM or owner clueless at what they do. I have no credentials to say how good or bad they are at their job, nor do I have any idea what the day-to-day operations of their job require. I give them the benefit of the doubt that, considering they do this for a living, they know what they are doing. Just as I would assume that you know what you are doing in whatever area of work you call your craft.

As a fan though, I find myself absolutely credentialed to call out other fans who say the people in charge don't know what they're doing. You know why? Because we have no idea what they do. We have no qualifications, we have no on-the-job experience, we have no eyes and ears in the meetings and in the office.

But we're the fans! We pay hard earned money!

Of course you do, but being a patient doesn't qualify you to diagnose illness. That's why you go to the doctor. You trust those professionals, why don't you trust these?

I think opinions constitute 95% of what is posted on any message board.

The other 5% is people who post stats to try and prove a point.

I thought you started a whole new post to complain about Woody Johnson? What are you actually trying to say?

I stand by what I said. That's how I see it. 43 years of watching Jets football is also a factor in my perceptions.

Justice Stewart once said (and I paraphrase): "I can't define pornography, but I know it when I see it."

No, he's not. He's a very good defensive coordinator. Let's get that straight.

Secondly, I agree with the OP. Woody Johnson is the problem with this team.

This team, as it stands right now, has no direction.

And that starts and ends with Woody Johnson. He truly does appear clueless.

And I don't care what anyone else thinks, I believe there are two reasons that we haven't hired a GM yet.

1) No clear direction from Woody Johnson as to what he wants (philosophy, QB, etc.). Why? Likely because he has no clue.
2) The prerequisite that Rex Ryan remain as HC. Why? Likely because people are tired of listening to Rex Ryan say that he's going to change and then watch him do the opposite. Which goes back to my first statement. I don't think the people who are interviewing to be GM really think that Rex Ryan is a good HC.
You hit the nail on the head with a lot of your points. This PC was a Jets fans worst nightmare and I cannot believe how many other people are drinking the kool-aid that Rex and Woody were trying to serve today.

I did. I'm just going with the flow of the responses. Woody's performance today in the PC confirmed everything I always thought about him. I just can't believe that he is basically getting rid of everybody except the person that is most responsible for the condition of the team today.

What I want from my owner is:

1. Give the fans a great game day experience.
2. Hire the best football people around to give us the best team possible on the field.
3. Stay the hell out of everything else.

In my mind Woody has failed miserably on all 3 counts.

Another thing. VT's Niece said the same thing yet you didn't question her. Why is that?

I think there are some who want to believe in fairytales.

A few posters here used to be like that but have since "seen the light." (I won't mention any names in order to protect the innocent )

And the ones who still believe throw around the SOJF label towards others as if that's a badge of honor for them. But that's just a refusal to accept reality IMO. I don't like being critical. I don't enjoy it. I'd much rather post about good stuff all the time. But that's hard to do under these circumastances.

And now it's being reported that Scott Cohen is gaining strong consideration as our GM.

I can't wait to see the pom pom crew spin that one if it happens.

They're considering him.

I've wanted the Jets to adapt to a modern offensive approach, one that doesn't try to "ground and pound" you like it's 1962.

They're complying.

How could I not be thrilled with what has transpired?
I agree. So far, so good. We can re-evaluate after they hire a new GM, OC, and QB coach. And I love that they let Pettine walk to elevate Thurmon to DC.

Thing is I could see Cohen pointing out every error Mike made and what he would've done differently. He has that advantage in the group interviewed. If Cohen is telling Woody what he wants to hear he could get the job..

I don't see how anybody who heard Woody today can say that I was wrong in my assessment about him. The Jets are doomed as long as Woody stays the owner. How sad!

Sorry, not going to hear from a poster who disappeared for the last two years and who re-materiizes at the precise moment the fans are at their lowest point to rub salt in the wound.

well said on all counts including building a stadium in Giants territory and sharing expenses with them! I think Woody is a disaster and REX is the root cause of our probelems. He admitted that his position on GROUND and POUND hurt the team for 4 years! Now all of a sudden he will become Air Coryell with an inaccurate QB and a weak OL. Mediocrity here we come!

Would it not be better if he would outline his accomplishments in choosing personnel? Does he have any expertoes? That is a prime job of a GM and we'd have no real experience with Scott as our GM. Rex would dominate and have hissay on TERMINATOR type picks and we will remain in the circus tent for several years!

I know you don't want to hear anything negative about your hero Woody and for your information I've been around. Just don't post with the frequency of some but have offered up my pearls of wisdom in the last 2 years.

Did you think you missed me?
