90% of the highlights is Harris, Pace and Revis. We know Pace is just too old now and Revis was hurt. So, what's Harris' excuse. Frankly, he has been a huge disappointment since signing his big contract.

Didn't Tanny Bring in Harris, Revis and Pace? I seem to remember this team was a joke at the end of the 05 season when he took over. Is it possible we fired the wrong guy?

Tanny certainly brought in some good players. Unfortunately, the contracts he handed out, what he supposedly good at, are crippling this team right now. There is so much money tied up in 10 or so guys there was/is no way to sign any quality depth. Rex does have a say on personnel decisions, but he didn't hand out these cap-killing contracts. The right guy went.

The guy who took Mangini's defense and tuned it into a #1 D. The guy who turned Revis into an Island. The guy who won 4 playoff games in two years.
Woody is saying... Give Rex a GM that can help him with the offensive side of the ball. Then restock the roster with young talent. And sign that talent to contracts that's in line with their true CAP value to the team. Do this... And Rex will get Jets back again to a AFCCG...and another shot at the Supe. Many here disagree with this. But Woody isn't clueless for wanting to implement his plan. |

After watching that press confrence if you don't think Ryan got those guys at any price you weren't watching what I saw. Woody isn't clueless he has gotten more attention for this team then it deserves since Rex was hired. |

Then let him be both a facilitator and at times adversarial with Rex and his wants. No to a Holmes contract that's not in proportion with his real CAP value. Let him walk...even if Rex gets mad. Sign Braylon instead. Cause he wasn't going to shakedown the Jets for all he can get. No to Revis and his Scrooge & Marley agents that never needed any encouragement, to try and scrape the CAP cupboard of every last coin in there. No to a ridiculous Sanchez extension. Say no to Harris and a 4 year $36 mil contract, with 29.5 mil guaranteed. Tanny didn't say no. He was the GM...and that was his call. His job to say no. And only say yes to contracts when the deal could be struck for a reasonable CAP friendly figure. I don't want a flunky GM. Be it Tom Gamble or Scott Cohen. I want someone that will make tough decisions. Say no to the impulses of either Woody for a Favre or Rex for one of "his" guys, like Scott, for way out of context CAP money. A strong GM that can control Rex is what's needed. Rex just coaching and the GM doing his job...whether it makes Rex happy or not. I think Woody said the new GM would have final say on all personnel matters. IMO...Tanny's biggest problem was contracts much more then his drafts. He took things as far as he could. Now it's time to pass the baton to a individual with 15-25 years of various football experiences. A GM with a vision and a plan on how to implement it. That's the way I'd like to see the Jets going forward. |
