What scares me about the things that Bills fans are saying is that they have no clue. For example they said that Pettine is a very aggressive defensive play caller but as we Jets fans know since Pettine has taken more responsibility in calling plays the Jets have been much less aggressive. I don't think that's a coincidence. I guess my point is that they sound very dumb talking about somebody that they really don't know anything about and I'm pretty sure that's exactly what has been going on in this thread and other threads on JI for the past 2 weeks regarding the GM search lol.

To recap:
Polian - declined EVERYONE so he consulted us Caldwell - one of the first interviewed, waited until he pretty much wrapped up the Jax job before we had any REAL interest Gamble - interviewed poorly, not our guy Heckert - declined interview, probably going to KC Dorsey - I think he interviewed, probably going to KC Ross - interviewed, apparently not our guy Telesco - didn't figure out that he was a good candidate until SD job was his Gaine - reached out to him in second week of GM search Raye - either declined interview or was never asked And of course the last man standing is Scott Cohen I know I have been pretty p!ssed off the last few days, but can anyone out there explain how this is a normal GM search? Like how many people did Atlanta interview before they settled on Dimitroff? SF with Baalke? PFT quotes league insider saying the Jets are "screwed." What does it say when we reach out to 10 candidates and have to settle on an internal candidate? Help? |

@AdamSchefter: From @mortreport and me: Eagles met with Notre Dame HC Brian Kelly, who is now out of country. Sides expect to revisit talks.
@mortreport: To repeat, Eagles and Kelly met after the BCS title game before he left for vacation out of country. @JayGlazer also reporting interest. @JasonLaCanfora: In addition to the Eagles, league sources say the Bears also have interest in Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly ... Bottom line is Rex has given this team more post season success then any other Jets HC other then Weeb Ewbank, that's an undebatable fact.
And he did it in his first 2 yrs on the job with a rookie QB. Based on that alone, I think Rex has earned the title of at least a good HC.....even though our last 2 seasons have sucked and Tannenbaum is every bit as responsible for these last 2 seasons as Rex is, if not more so. @RUSSLANDE: Sources tell me that despite Panthers hiring of Dave Gettleman, Jim Popp had an excellent interview & impressed enough to make choice tough.

@RUSSLANDE: @woodyjohnson4 - Of the remaining GM candidates, the Jets need to talk seriously with Jim Popp and Bill Polian to see if there is interest.
@fyke62: @RUSSLANDE - nobody with half a brain WANTS to work there. @RUSSLANDE: @fyke62 - That is why the Jets need to step up & get a GM like Jim Popp as he has dealt with tough situations like that before. Lande trying to directly instruct Woody. I like Popp. He at least deserves an interview. Last edited by C Mart; 01-09-2013 at 08:51 PM. |
