The New York Daily News reports former Eagles OC Marty Mornhinweg is on the Jets' "list" for the same job in New York, and could interview as early as Friday.
The Jets' coordinator search has been on the back-burner as they struggle to find a new GM, but Mornhinweg's pass-happy system would be a massive departure from Tony Sparano's spitball offense. It would seem to be a poor fit with Mark Sanchez's limited skill-set, but the Jets might be more interested in Mornhinweg's name than his résumé. Regardless of a potentially shaky marriage between philosophy and personnel, Mornhinweg would be an infinitely more qualified and experienced hire than Sparano.

Don't buy it. The timing of it doesn't make sense. It's been known that this firm has been helping the Jets for 2-3 weeks. Why wait til now to put this out?

Is this the same guy Nick Saban was going to sue?

Because to say GM's are staying away b/c of Rex, that's pointing the finger at one guy, Rex, and throwing him under the bus.

He hasn't done that in any of his comments.

Weird that the #Jets are reaching out to various offensive coordinators (Marty Mornhinweg, Hue Jackson & Cam Cameron) without a GM in place.

If in 3 yrs we could get to Seattle's level right now we'd all be happy, right?
Hard to compare the two situations.

Pete Carroll was a white hot coaching candidate.

Hard to say the same about Ryan.

That is b.c they are going to promote Cohen to GM and have Nissim run the cap and contracts.

THIS WAS SAID AT THE PRESS CONFERENCE! REX WOULD HIRE THE COACHES AND THE GM WOULD BE IN CHARGE OF PERSONNEL.

Other than that, the other thing this suggests is that the Jets have a candidate in mind that are close, which could suggest Popp.

If they were going to hire Cohen, they would have done it by now, got it?

Besides you want to talk career suicide?

Didn't we learn that Cohen and Bradway were running things in the interim? So I'm not sure it's weird.

Edit: especially because Woody said Rex will pick the assistant coaches, the new GM will pick the players.

I respect the fact that Steiny cares this much about NYJ football and that as a college student with no institution backing him has gotten to a position where we take his tweets seriously, but some stuff he says, like "this GM search is a mess" is rather dubious.

Among coaching hires announced by #Chiefs joining Andy Reid: Tommy Brasher (D-line), David Culley (WRs) and Britt Reid (quality control).

Carroll coached in the NFL before and failed miserably.

Can't say the same about Rex

But they don't have a GM? What are they doing?

Seriously.
