Jets to interview John Idzik for GM on Wednesday
Jets to interview John Idzik for GM on Wednesday
Jan 15 1/15/2013 10:58:37 AM Share on emailShare on printShare on twitterShare on facebookShare on myspaceShare on stumbleuponShare on digg|More Sharing ServicesMore Conor Orr of the Newark Star-Ledger reports the Jets are set to interview Seahawks VP of football administration John Idzik for a second time on Wednesday, according to an ESPN report. Idzik won a Super Bowl with Tampa Bay as the assistant general manager before moving to the Cardinals, where he was the senior director of football operations and part architect of a team that would eventually reach the Super Bowl. He left before he could see that happen, though, joining the Seahawks in 2007. According to the team's website, Idzik "oversees player negotiations, the team’s compliance with the NFL salary cap, player personnel transactions, all football operations budgets, staff and team contracts, team travel and most aspects of the day-to-day football operations while also remaining active in player evaluations." I don't care how long it takes as long as we keep doing our DD and we get the right GM. |

Do we know how close he came to getting the seattle GM job that was also run by Korn Ferry?
Or more importantly if there was a reason he didnt get it? |

That's a great point. I'd love to know how many of these guys Jed H. had interviewed back in 2009 when SEA was hiring a GM.

A post earlier today told us to believe nothing in the press. Now a guy no one has ever heard of is giving people gutt feelings?

Idzik would be a good hire, IMHO. He has the financial, contract and cap knowledge of a guy like Khan but also has past experience in coaching, scouting and keeps involved in player evaluation etc. A very well rounded candidate with good experience from a well-run team. I would like this hire.

but for all we know he was pipped by Schneider because Schneider was marginally the better candidate. What it doesn't mean is that because he didn't get Seattle he is a bad candidate, it just means he is not as good a candidate, marginal or otherwise, as Schneider. Still could be an awesome candidate though Or not
