Is Gamble DEFINITELY out as a GM prospect?
While I liked a lot of the candidates, I really started warming up to Gamble and was deflated when he went from top prospect to a basically unmentioned candidate at this point.
While we brought back three other GMs for interviews recently, I believe Gamble did have a second interview, and maybe Woody and the FO were just doing another round in the name of due diligence...although I don't really believe that. So do you think there is any chance in he11 he get's named the man? |

Apparently, he took a **** on Woody's desk during the interview. I find it very unlikely that he's even considered at this point.

Gamble did not get a second interview. It was Cladwell who got the second interview and then rejected the Jets offer. There is no chance Gamble is the pick on Thursday.

I knew Caldwell got the second interview, wasn't thinking of that.
I didn't hear that he shat on woody, but I did hear that he was thought of by woody as "too strong of a personality," I forget from where. The way I took that was that he wasn't enough of a yes man, not that he insulted woody somehow tho. |

Wish I remember where I read it but he supposedly had too strong of a personality. Don't know why the Jets thought that was a bad thing. Guess they apparently believe in a collaborative effort rather than having your GM make the final decisions on football matters...

Brian Bassett @Brian_BassettWhile everyone zigs, I'll zag. Hearing nothing about Khan, Idzik & Cohen for#Jets GM, but (believe it or not) Gamble & Sundquist.

It's weird because he was a hot name then kind of fell out of favor with every team. Something must have disqualified him for some reason.

pretty much.
i actually wouldn't be surprised if the Jets have had some kind of "in principle" deal with Gamble for some time, but given his (reported) deficiencies with cap management, they've been looking for a numbers guy to complement him. i mean, it's about as likely and realistic as anything else at this point. |

Is it too simplistic to think that the delay in appointing a GM is because Gamble's season hasn't finished yet ?
If niners lose on Sunday then we'll be free to appoint Gamble |
