Jets and John Idzik still working through "details" according to source but two sides finalizing deal. Idzik will be Jets GM, as expected.

Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer
The Jets will hire Seahawks exec John Idzik as their next general manager.

If he's able to assemble talent like they have on defense in Seattle the Jets will be scary on defense for a long time to come.

Russell Wilson was a great pick as well...

Seattle wasn't exactly a tightly-run ship this year so I think you might want to rein in your expectations on that front.

John Idzik is more than just a salary cap man. He's had some experience in coaching/scouting. However, his forte isn't on personnel side.

Jets identified Idzik as their man on Thursday, negotiated last night and through today to get it done.

the first douche bag to comment on the new hire

Rich Cimini ‏@RichCimini
Idzik is risky. No previous GM experience. Great salary-cap guy, lacks experience in scouting, personnel. Won the interviews, targeted yest.

Idzik: Fire Rex and I want $2MM for a house.

Woody: You can fire Rex next year and I will give you the $2MM and some J&J stock.

Idzik: Done.

Although he's labeled cap guy, Idzik has good amount of personnel exp. and was still involved w/personnel in Seattle | http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/201..._new_gene.html

only problem is he was not the guy that put the seattle team together
John Schneider is the guy that did that-if he was hired for our gm I would be excited but he was not
