not only this, but he seems like someone who will actually listen to the scouts when they say something random like 'you should really draft russell wilson'. and since he's seen first hand how you can find a qb in the middle rounds, i'm encouraged he may take his shots there.

Mentioned here in my 12/4 future GMs column http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...-week-14-notes … Idzik was put on the road to do some college scouting recently by Seattle.

He better come out in the presser and push his work in personnel on the reporters.

Jets owner Woody Johnson is calling candidates now to tell them the GM job's going to John Idzik.

I truly believe this will be a great hire. Whever Idzik has gone, he has found success. He is a master of the cap, but also has good expirence in personnel as well. Way to go K/F and Woody!

Have to say, love the hiring ... but "Make it happen Idzik!" just doesn't have the same ring as "Make it happen Tanny!"

Idzik is risky. No previous GM experience. Great salary-cap guy, lacks experience in scouting, personnel. Won the interviews, targeted yest.
That's a dumb comment. I'd guess less than 5 current GM's had GM experience before being hired.

I like what I've read about him. Hope Woody gives him the power he needs to rebuild this team how he wants without interference. And I'd love if his first move was cutting Tebow.

I'm shocked the Jets hired another cap guy. Roster needs to be overhauled. Thought for sure they'd go with a personnel guy.

Costello, Cimini, and Manish are the absolute WORST beatwriters in the world. Thank God for Connor Orr.

I originally wanted Polian, but this guy seems like a qualified choice. Hard to believe....
