Yes because getting 5 yards on a 3rd and 8 always left me feeling like at least we did our best.

He is selfish, and he is cancerous, as he's shown.

A poor route runner he is not.

Heck, with a 1 armed Pennington the Jets were 2 Doug Brien kicks and a Herm Edwards away form the AFCCG.
You and I have very different recollections of the Hackett years. In addition to his ridiculously conservative play-calling, he literally could not figure out how clocks work so they had to hire a guy to help him with that. I will admit, though, that having a guy named Dick Curl on the coaching staff was good for a few chuckles.

Take a look around the league to teams such as the Seahawks and Redskins.....rosters can be vastly different in ONE year...the 2013 Jets should look nothing like the 2012 squad.

Agreed- 12 of the starters are FA or likely cuts,

I got even more chuckles from the fact that "clock management specialist" Dick Curl was not very good at "managing the clock".

That's not news. I can't stand the guy, but to say he's a bad route runner is wrong. Route running is his forte.

I think McKnight is a fit for the WCO, Greene definitely is not, and I don't think Powell is too great of a fit either. A RB like Andre Ellington or Joseph Randle could be options in the 3rd round of the draft to help here.

The obvious elephant in the room is QB. Sanchez isn't an ideal fit for any scheme, but least of all the WCO. Timing and accuracy are key, and we don't have that QB on the roster. Ryan Nassib in round 2 could work in a WCO, but the best fit is Geno Smith, in my opinion. Worth the # 9 pick? Some think he'll go #1, some wouldn't touch him at 9. I don't know if they will or won't, and can't decide if they should or shouldn't yet, but the chances they will are more likely now than they were yesterday for Smith.
Im warming up to Dysert. he has a very high football IQ. Good arm.accurate.Didn't run a pro style offense though,Your view?

Wouldn't say "bad", but he can be a lazy route runner when he knows he's not the primary option.....

The 5th round pick the steelers got for holmes? they traded it for a 6th round pick and bryant mcfaddend and with the 6th rounder picked up Antonio Brown. Younger, better receiver than Holmes.

There is no question that the Steelers know how to draft players...they don't bust too often and keep coming up with gems.

I hope Idzik builds a staff and culture which eventually does that for the Jets.

If AJ Feeley and Kevin Kolb could flourish in this system, so can any other average prospect

And Sanchez is not even average enough to excel in this system

Can't think of many franchises that do a better job at drafting skill positions and linebackers than the Steelers

Oline on the other hand...

I'm the biggest critic of Sanchez. I know a lot of you are going really be pissed for saying this. The WCO is what Sanchez ran in college and he ran it well this might save his career. He might also look like Sanchez of USC not suckchez of the Jets. On fact this might be the reason they are implementing it because Sanchez will be given one more year.

He was the lowest rated passer on throws 5 yards or shorter. He just can't run an NFL WC offense.

I haven't seen enough of Dysert to make form too much of an opinion, but from what I saw, Miami was a short passing game , and he seemed to be very accurate with decent, but not great mobility. I could probably get on board with him in the 3rd, but my preference(subject to change) is Nassib.
