Im not defending Cav, or saying lee is going to be better.. but its a position coach.. If a position coach needs to coach a player how to play his own position we have much bigger problems.. I dont know who the qb coach is for patriots, or denver, indy, ect.. But I will bet they made very little difference in the lives of their qb..

Can't turn **** into something other then ****. Fitzpatrick had 6 good games before the league caught up to him (and that was before Lee even started to work there). He just managed to con the Bills into a horrible contract before then.

This might serve as proof that we are stuck with Tebow.
I was wondering who would be the first to come to this conclusion.

Fit was already in place so it is hard to say he ruined him. Guys like Henne and Beck on the other hand. He did do a good job with getting a lot out of Chad though.

He was a 7th round pick out of harvard.

The fact that he started for 3 years is miraculous.

You want to knock this hire, ok sure, I dont really care either way considering that position coaches are over rated anyways in my book, but to knock him for Fitzpatrick is just something I can't agree with.

I like this hire because Idzik wants to create a system like they have in Seattle with the read option. David Lee worked with running QBs in Miami so he would be a good option

Is it not a legitimate hypothesis?

BTW, I used "might" therefore no conclusion was made. But don't let me stop you from coming to conclusions.

Fitz is not an NFL-starting caliber QB.

And before people start tearing into me, neither is Sanchez.

A position coach's importance is relative to the player(s) being coached. Sanchez could benefit from a quality coach, Brady, not so much. Look at the success the DL had under Dunbar this year.

One major responsibility is identifying and correcting fundamental flaws/techniques. Position coaches are extremely important and shouldn't be dismissed as not important.

This is an awesome hire and i don't know that much about this cat. What i do know is when the Miami Dolphins had nothing going for them he was smart enough to figure out a concept that allowed them to be somewhat successful.

By the way, when everyone was patting Sparano on the back for being named the Jets OC last yr, what everyone forgot to realize is that it was this guy who allowed Saprano to look good.

Think about this when you critize this hire. Consider what you saw last yr on offense and understand what kind of coach it would take to make that look decent.

Awesome Hire by the Jets. He should help Starting QB Greg McElroy improve his game, LOL.

Actually, his TO ratio got better and his QB rating went up with Lee last year.

For those ripping him for Fitz. Look at the 2nd half of the '11 season Fitz sucked and Lee wasn't even his coach in '11

Blows my mind that anyone can call this a bad hire after 4 years of Matt Cavanaugh.
