Remember we had the discussion about being there for your dog when he dies and I said I could never do it because it would hurt too much? Well my baby passed away today in his sleep he was fine all day and went to lay down and never woke up

Sorry kid, you must be devastated.

But, in the scheme of things, no suffering, and he went dreaming of you.

Sorry to hear, jetgirl.

Like others have said, your dog went painlessly and quietly so you should be comforted knowing that.

My condolences to you. We had to put both of our dogs away and my wife and I held them both. Worst days of my life. Four months after our second died we went out and adopted two rescue dogs. Great therapy and challenging since they are both puppies! Highly recommend it.

I buried a dog a month ago.

Then the coyotes dug him up.

So I buried him again.

Damn Nature.

i am so sorry for your loss.

we've lost five dogs, and only one died at home. she had cancer and our vet said she would live 4 to 6 weeks. she lived for about three years. every year my goal was for her to live until Christmas. last year she hung on for me until three days after Christmas. she died in my wife's arms at 4:30 pm -. she even gave us half an hour to get her to the vet's office which closed at 5 pm so we wouldn't have to keep her over night.

believe me, having a dog lay down and pass on is the best thing that can happen and I really believe my dog and yours did this for our benefit. there is nothing worse than loading the dog in the car knowing you won't be bringing him/her home. not to mention the time at the vet and the terrible drive home. your dog died in peace in a loved place. i wish all of our dog's could have went to sleep and died in our home.

wish I could give you a hug right now.
