I've said this often: Put stock in nothing you read in these off season media pieces. No one knows anything until the system plays in multiple regular season games.

I agree with Charlie Brown, that Mark would be a better player today if he broke in with this Offense, and a OC that knows Offense. Sorry Schotty.

Santonio could fit in to the WCO nicely, but he's gonna have to work hard, and that worries me.

Bilal Powell will be very good next year. He's perfect for MM's system.
Braylon, if resigned, should fit in well in the WCO too...

Fix the OL.

It's all about Marnhinweg building up Sanchez's confidence and subsequent performance...Anyone expecting an overnight improvement to a pro bowl QB is unrealistic. However, it is possible to at least get Sanchez back to a capable, quality starting QB in '13 and then build upon that in '14, '15 etc...

True...But you do have Mornhinweg's coaching career as an OC to reference, which has consistently been successful with X number of QBs..

He's never been the same since the ravens game last year. I remember listening to the game in Brussels but it sounded like he was beat and raped all game long.

Not questioning your posting of the article at all, C Mart. Just sharing my viewpoint on almost all of these media fluff pieces.

I agree - you aren't going to read that the players hate the system and don't know what they're doing in the off season. Hope springs eternal - which is the way it should be. But, you'd be foolish to put much stock into anything you read.

That being said - Marty M. is a proven Offensive mind which is more than you can say about Sparano. What does that mean for Sanchez and the offense in general? I have no idea. I don't have much more faith in him than I did 2 weeks ago and still think there's a decent shot he gets moved. But, if he does become successful this year, it probably will have something to do with him fitting in to MM's system.

To be fair, I don't think we heard "great stuff" about Sparano as much as we heard "he doesn't do things like Schotty, so he HAS to be an improvement".

There's light years between praising someone because they played a partial role in Cowboy success vs. perennial top-10 units (both passing and receiving). If it wasn't for a RIDICULOUS amount of turnovers in Philly, he'd probably still be there.

I know this place jumps at every little move the team makes (good and bad) but this is the best OC we've had in a LONG time, and it's OK to acknowledge that and look forward to it with more assurance than we can with most acquisitions . . .

Right. That is the difference between him and Sparano. With Sparano, we had faith that he would install a solid system to compliment Rex's defense. With Marty we have a history of success as an OC. We don't have to HOPE that we have a competent OC, we know we do. The big question is whether we have the talent to implement and execute his system.

I am treating Marty the same way I treated Sanchez last season. I am not going to declare him a success or improvement based on stats. I do not expect this offense to put up big numbers b.c there is a significant lack of talent.

I will judge him on things I think he can control. Preparedness. Balance. Play design. Flow. Adjustments. Etc.

Basically I am setting the bar very low for this offense. I understand Marty has a major crutch at the QB position and I do not expect any significant improvement from Sanchez and I will not hold Marty responsible for Sanchez' performance. IMO he shouldn't even be on the team. And if Tebow is back then . . .

I am not convinced Mark Sanchez can resurrect himself - but there is evidence to say that he might . . .

There have been plenty of games where Mark gets in a rhythm and the results are good. The first game against Buffalo last year was a fine example. In fact, Mark had two games last year with over 60% completion percentage and FOUR games at or above 70% - including both games with NE. In those six games where his completion % is way up, his turnovers are way down - 3 picks across those six games - versus 15 picks in the other 9 games he started.

So - point is - aside from his obvious problems, Mark still does seem to be a QB capable of getting into a rhythm and being successful. If Marty's system can truly teach and enhance that capability (and it sounds like it might) than Marty was the right pick to try and get the Jets back on track. Because that process clearly starts with finding out what to do with Mark.

This is what I worry about most. This is the type of system that would benefit Sanchez but I honestly think he's done HERE. One or two bad thrown and he's going to get mercilessly booed at home.

I think we know now that he can't handle that. He can't be the guy this year, it would be bad.

It's going to take some time for Morninweag's offense to develop, but I'm convinced this is a good hire.

I just hope this current CS can last. We all know that Rex Ryan respects his assistants enough that he lets them do their jobs uninterrupted. I think that is noble. Hopefully, Rex can provide enough support and John Idzik can provide Marty with the right kinds of players to set his offense in motion.

Good point Beer.

Stratigically, that is a very sound offense for today's NFL.

However, that entire offense is predicated on pre-snap reads, quick decision making and accurate throws.

It is not a good offense for the Jets current QB's on the roster.
