Also, given the way BC has gone, I think they are regretting decision.

Few things here.

1. The jets didnt ruin Jags career, he ruined it himself. He was never full in on BC even after proclaiming he was, thats why he was fired. He then was dropped by the bucs IN TC because he was so bad. He would probably jump at the chance to get back into the nfl but i dont even know if he has oline experience. Lastly, he is known as a jerk of a coach, so not sure how that would work as oline coach.

2. Grimm did a great job last year. The guy lost 2 starting tackles...imagine the jets oline with no running game, no qb, and howard and brick on the sideline. You need some talent to coach

3. I dont know what tice's story is but again, he had nothing to work with in chicago talent wise.

Maybe mornewhig and lee have experience with oline and they dont need a seasoned coach. Maybe this TE coach is a real "up-and-comer".

But IMO this seems like Rex/FO not addressing every single spot on the staff as vitally important which they should do.

Chicago's OL was horrible because of lack of talent not coaching.

Grimm likewise was a successful O-Line coach with the Redskins (developed Chris Samuels and Jon Jansen) and Pittsburgh (top 10 Run blocking OL in 2004-2006). His OL sucked in Arizona b/c no talent not coaching.

But hey, if you prefer Devlin to Grimm and Tice, thats fine. Talk to me when hes fired at the end of next year.

The reason Rex doesnt hire guys like Grimm, Tice, Whisenhunt etc to his staff is because they are a threat to his job

There's a good chance alot of coaches are going to be fired a yr from now

Do their blocking schemes fit the WCO?

Who knows how good an OL coach Devlin is. I'd hope Mornhiweg approved of the move.

Where is the logic in 'Let's all wait and see what he can do?' When the Jets, making the decision have already decided he can do the job whether it be player or coach. This is a tough business but has huge rewards. It isn't little league.

I thought he did himself in when Wayne Hunter lost the starting job and then was traded to St. Louis.

Trial and error is a simple concept that is used in many businesses. Nothing is a given. If the Jets were to hire a Russ Grimm, and he struggles, what then?

Was Dennis Thurman the most qualified candidate for the DC job. And yet, did people complain about that?

I am convinced the jets are doing this to spite Mehta.

Mehta reported that the jets are releasing their oline coach. The jets answer by saying not true, we haven't made a decision yet. My guess is they are trying to quell rumors, root out leaks. Just like Sparano he will be let go, but on their own timeline.
