Any sports writer who thinks the Jets should keep Revis this season, and give him a mega contract doesn't know anything about football.

Revis is a luxury at this point. The necessity of a QB, OL, an offense in general (right?) and the goal to win games (not be the #1 defense) are the overriding factors in all of this. Whatever Revis gets the Jets will help.

Having a top 10 defense, and a top 10 offense will have us in playoffs every year.

Having a top 5 defense, and a bottom 5 offense, makes these threads possible.

O'Connor is the least biased writer of them all, if he is saying this it means something.

I really don't understand why people are so confused. It is damn near impossible to build a consistently Super Bowl worthy team without having a STRING of good drafts put together.

The last few years, the Jets have not been able to put together a string of good drafts.

In order to compensate for this, the Jets turned to FA signings to go for it all. The problem with that strategy is that it is very short term because the team operates under a salary cap.

The Jets went for it all from 2009-2012. We did not succeed. If Mark Sanchez would have turned into a franchise QB we MAY have been able to sustain some semblance of success. That didn't happen.

Now it is time to pay the piper. 2013-2014 will be correction years for going for it all in 2009-2012 and hopefully going forward we can string together a few good drafts to get us back on the right track.

Rebuilding in the NFL is not the same as it is in Baseball. With a few breaks just about any team can go from 6-10 to 10-6. The only time you enter a season with a plan to "rebuild" and settle for losing 10-14 games is when you lose Peyton Manning and are angling for Andrew Luck.

But go root for the Giants... they are not our rival.
100% Correct!!!

Do the Jets have an Andrew Luck or RGIII on their roster?

You know what he meant.

Rebuilding is not a death sentence. 2006 was supposed to be a rebuilding year and we made the playoffs. It isn't impossible. Although I think we are in for a very rough year.

Of course adding RG3 or Luck would help the cause.

How many of the 22 Jets starters on offense and defense will be different next year?

More than half, I'd say.

If Idzik is not thinking that next season is a rebuilding year then the wrong man was hired for the position.

That's my point.

Last year the Colts turned over 15 out of their 22 starters, but they have a great QB.

Without a viable NFL QB, teams that turn over 50%+ of their roster are looking at a 4-6 win season.

Who knows, maybe the Jets find a sleeper QB in the 6th round.

God knows we had one under center this past season.

Excellent statistic. I'd love for you to quote the source.

Jets will be in the basement of the AFCE next season if the offense remains where it is.

Honestly at this point I would sign for the #1 pick in 2014. It might pay to suck this year.

The Colts have sucked at the right time twice now.

We're going to suck anyway? Go the whole nine yards and really get serious about rebuilding.
