Revis gives this team their identity...or a identity.
After so many years of crappy defense the Jets finally have a team on that side that is consistently top 5 year after year.
Trading him away will bring a goldmine, but we lose some of the intangible that is hard to replace through the draft or free agency. I just like the way he prepares and plays. We need that...granted at the correct price. Last edited by Hobblingjetster; 01-26-2013 at 12:50 AM. Reason: trying to change the title mispelling...should read identity, both words. Thanks. |

Our D was fine without him. He's a luxury, not a necessity.

I think Ryan is a great coach too. Relatively new to here, but a long in the tooth Jets fan. We haven't had such a consistently top ranked defense before Revis or Ryan. These things matter... the guys take pride in this stuff.

I'm sure our D would be fine without David Harris and his $13m cap also. I'd take Revis at $16m/season 10/10 times over David Harris who has become mediocre. We've had our share of bad contracts - once they clear the books there won't be such a "cap hell." Nobody is up in arms over the fact that Holmes & Harris both count $12.5m or MORE this year against the cap. Both of them combined don't even come close to matching the value of Revis.

We've got holes across the team to fill and this guy wants more money. Sorry, but we just don't NEED a HoF CB.
If you disagree, that's fine. You're entitled to your opinion just as much as anyone else. |

this is kind of true, but the CB position is so peripheral that the identity he provides is nominal. it was different when randy moss was in the division and the fins and bills both had premier WRs
now our D needs an identity that is more associated with physicality and pass rush. we have to develop that identity, bottomline. that can't be accomplished with JUST revis |

Revis for the whole season with the hitters at safety and a maturing defensive line and Cromartie kinda taking a shine to the Jets, he hit rb's ...don't we all just need one more offensive lineman and a QB? ;-)
Draft...linebackers and offensive linemen |

We've got, like, only 10 starters coming back next year?
