The Defense had the most pressure it could possibly have last year No Revis, No Offense, No ST's, and they kept this team in games for 3 Quarters on most counts.

If he will accept what he makes now then yes. If he wants QB money then no. He is not worth it. Does not affect the game enough. He can only cover one guy.

Have you found an independent analyst/expert who agrees with this?

I haven't , I say trade the MEVIS.

JET FANS, HEAR THIS, LISTEN TO THIS:

THE PROBLEM WITH THE JETS IS NOT REVIS, IT'S ALMOST EVERYONE ELSE BESIDES REVIS (Who knows with a healthy Revis, we might have been better than 6-10 -- even with a lousy performing QB -- because of his play and locker room leadership!)
Everyone of these guys was a playmaker.

Revis Was NOT Floated as Trade Bait Before Injury

C Mart has updated his post but I thought it was worth highlighting that this story written by Cannizzarro is an utter fabrication.

Quote:
Two NFL sources told The Post yesterday the Jets were floating their interest around the league in trading Revis before he suffered his season-ending injury — a clear indication they have had no plans to sign him to the long-term contract he wants.
According to Manish and Cimini (I know, true journalists themselves worthy of Pulitzers) Tannenbaum picked the brains of confidantes on the REvis situation but never discussed trading him.

Quote:
he Saturday report that the New York Jets dangled Darrelle Revis in trade talks prior to his anterior cruciate ligament injury might not be quite accurate.

Both Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com and Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reported Sunday that Revis was never part of actual trade discussions prior to the Sept. 23 knee injury that ended his season.

According to Cimini, former general manager Mike Tannenbaum spoke to some "confidantes" across the NFL landscape, getting their viewpoint on how to ultimately settle the Revis situation. Tannenbaum reached out for guidance, but never engaged in any talks about moving the dynamic cornerback.

Just more bullcrap and spin from the media quoting 'NFL sources', they have no credibility whatsoever, they just need to justify their existences.

I guess you just gotta pick who you believe at this point. Either way, it's at least probable that we DO end up trading him.

Without a stud QB, might as well buy the punter's jersey because he will be the star of this team. Spending $12-15 mill on a player teams can just avoid is a poor use a cap $$$$. This team needs to assemble a modern NFL roster. As a fan, I won't pay the massive $$$$ to attend a Jets game to watch their star do wind sprints up the sideline

A big +1. I keep posting about the media. The irony is that these esteem () journalists are with the team the entire season and never wrote this story until it became news this past week? How did they miss this apparent huge scoop on the Jets trading their best player? Now all of a sudden it is a story and the NY Post of all media claims the Jets were willing to trade him before the injury? Yeah....and I have a bridge to sell you.

GTFO with this b/s. It is about headlines and trying to sell papers; in other words, it is a LIE! Unnamed sources to progress the fabricated story.

No one ever wants until the contract expires to try and sign a league MVP caliber players. That's retarded. You extend said player - which is why those aforementioned contracts are killing us.

Good God, man!

How will we cope!

What's the use in acquiring all of these extra resources to fix our dogsh*t offense if we can't watch the best CB in the league every Sunday!?!!?!
It's not the end of the world.

Our defense kept us in games last yr because Cro played lights out and Laron Landry had the best season of his life. Rex played a conservative D to help our pass defense but compromised our run D which was fine b/c most teams don't really focus on running the ball anymore.

Bye bye Landry, Bye Bye Revis - Hello 32nd ranked Pass Defense next yr for Jets.

Jets can't afford to lose both Revis and Landry in 1 off-season. Ryan Leaf will be able to throw against us next season if that happens.

That would suck...we might go 6 and 10.

Any JETS fan that thinks Revis should get paid what he's asking is not looking at the cap and thinking in terms of 5 years. we will be a bottom tier team with a great CB. We can do that without Mevis.
