Our D needs to get better on that front or we don't see play-offs. (I also accept that bad O / ST's are a contributing factor too, giving up poor field position etc). Losing what talent we have on D is not going to improve the overall situation. We need to get rid of the non-talent. That is not a process that can be sped up. Keep the talent we have and bring in what more we can through the draft. If we end up cap-strapped in a few years due to a new Revis deal, we can deal with that then. But if we have no talent, all the cap in the world won't help you. |

The only true statistic is yards allowed. That great Jets defense was once again top 10. |

Goddamn. There's some stupid people on this site.
You cannot continue to cripple the Jets with paying a CB what a top-flight QB makes. I don't give a flying rat's ass if he is the g.o.a.t. He's an albatross around the neck with the money he'll demand. This is the Jets final shot at getting any value out of him. Anybody who parrots the dumbass line "it'll cost us 3 mil to trade him" can't see the forest for the trees. Even the best CB who ever played (Deion Sanders) only won a championship when he was on a team with a top-flight QB. CBs just aren't that important. |

How did we rank in QB Rating, Turnovers by QB and Completion Percentage by QB?
Hint: It wasn't the 2nd Ranked Passing Defense (not matter how inaccurate that ranking may be in reality) that sank us. |

Us "stupid people" realize that we have a great thing in Revis and we need to keep him. We valued heavy money into our QB and now people are saying Revis' contract demands "cripples" us. Now THAT'S stupid. If Sanchez didn't have his dumb contract, then we wouldn't have this conversation right now. Pay the man his money. We need him. Let Sanchez ride out the year and then cut him. We'll be fine. We need to add and keep talent, not get rid of it. Or is that stupid too? |

No. No. You pay your players according to what they are worth. PERIOD. Play makers or non play makers you do not cripple your franchise by OVERPAYING for a player just because some of the idiots on a message board get a hard on when those players make it into the probowl or onto the NFL top 100 player lists. |

You sir are getting with the program. Please do not forget to remind folks that Darrelle is the bestest Jets player since Curtis (the compiler) Martin spent the better part of a decade being the single most overpaid player in football.

Or are you're saying we should spend $20+ mil this year on QB alone? |

But paying $10 mil a year to Mark Sanchez is perfectly acceptable? To rebuild you need to keep talent, not get rid of it. You cut Sanchez next yer and *gasp* we can comfortably afford Revis ! |

1) The QB position >>>>>>>>> CB position. A team should invest it's money into the QB. Unfortunately for the Jets, Sanchez has self destructed. His contract would be acceptable if he were playing at the level the Jets thought he'd be playing at. 2) $10M for Revis? More like $16M. Revis is drooling all over himself with the thoughts of hitting the open market in 2014. He's always been about top dollar. He's not going to sign a long term extension with the Jets prior to hitting the market for anything less than top dollar.3) A very common misconception on this board is that Jets can't afford to pay Revis because they're in cap hell. This isn't true. The Jets are in cap hell in 2013. Revis is signed in 2013. In 2014 the Jets are in okay shape and could pay Revis the $16M a year if they wanted to. Of course, even with giving Revis top dollar, there's no guarantee that he wont decide to hold out again 2 years into his new deal. Maybe the Jets are just tired of dealing with him, and would rather use the $16M on 2 or 3 solid starters over the best CB in football. |

It is not a choice between overpaying or not overpaying one player if you have overpaid another one. It is STUPID to overpay either of them. STUPID. If we can get Revis for $10 million per year I would probably wince a little but I would go for that. I would wince because we have no guarantee that he will come all the way back and also this last injury. While it was certainly his most serious injury it was not his first time missing games due to injuries. How smart is it really to pay tens of millions for a player to sit in the trainer's room? $16 million per year is STUPID and with the state of our franchise and it should be a firing offense for the GM IMO if he were to make such a deal. Let me know if you need me to use smaller words. |

I think he'd rather sign up to a deal now, rather than play out a last year on his deal and risk not seeing another one. |

The problem is that he accepts a lower number now in order to give himself the protection of a signing bonus then how long before he gets to feeling disrespected again? One year? Two?
