Either we trade him now or we give him a contract on par with the best QB's in the game today or else he walks after this season.

It's pretty obvious what the smart decision is.

kinda funny considering peyton was going to be the "missing piece" that was going to take them from a team that WON a playoff game to a championship and in the end the team failed to win a playoff game-elway needs to look at his coach -his was given peyton manning a hall of fame qb and the team lost in its first playoff game at home no less

Did manning have a great year, yes. Did they lose because of manning, no. Did they lose because manning was incapable of winning the game in the end - yes.

This is like when we over reacted and drafted mike nugent because we thought our only issue was doug brien.

Strike while the wounds are fresh and hose elway in a deal.
So are we if we are seriously thinking about trading our best player.

So you're in favor of giving a corner Tom Brady/Peyton Manning/Aaron Rodgers money?

If so, what's the name of the loony bin you currently reside in?

My Dream 2013 Offseason:

1. Trade Revis, Collect 2013 1st & 3rd, 2014 3rd, 5th & 7th.
2. Trade Sanchez, Collect 2013 6th.
3. Trade Tebow to CFL, Collect Bag of Footballs.
4. Trade McElroy to Arena League, Collect Philadelphia Cheese Steak sandwhich (one).

Trade down from both 2013 #1's, aquire 2013 #2's and #4's.

2013 Draft: 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 4th, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th (11 picks)
2014 Draft: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 5th, 6th, 7th (9 picks)

IMO that is the best route to a Franchise Rebuild. If idzik is a good talent evaluatir and GM, we're then competative for years.

If he isn't, it won't matter what we do or trade.

Dude

The guy is injured

He's going to take the best deal we offer him this off season....no way he chances having a bad season with a bad knee, only to test the market next of season

It's pretty obvious what the smart move for Revis is

Since it is a late 1st rounder this season and likely to be next season, I would take a 1st and a 2nd this year and their 1st next year......Anything less than that they can kick rocks

Huge difference in value between early-mid 1st round picks and late ones, and this has to be taken into consideration

No. We're being realistic.

As for the trade. a 2nd and 3rd this year plus a conditional 1st next year

LOL

You're kidding yourself if you honestly believe that.

For the past two years, he's made it abundantly clear that he wants to be the highest paid defender in NFL history.

Now he's just going to take what we offer him?

Yeah, okay.

Do you think Revis would accept a deal that doesnt have him be the highest paid CB in football?

If the Jets don't actively trade Revis, he can play out 2013 and then walk away as a FA and the Jets get virtually nothing in return.

You're right, it is very obvious what the Jets need to do.

Manning didn't give up 3 long TD passes to the Ravens. They lost because they let the Ravens WRs get behind their secondary again, and again, and again. They scored 35 points, that should have easily been enough to win a home playoff game.

Yeah, okay.
I know some of these people are delusional. Even if you make Revis the highest paid CB in the league, that is going to cost more than 15 million a year. Nnamdi is making 15 million in 2013, so the delusion of signing him in the 12-13 million range is not happening.

these are many of the same people who will root for the jets to draft mingo in the first round, and still complain when the jets don't have cap room to sign quality offensive linemen, tight ends, quarterbacks and wide receivers. go defense!

Exactly. And there's no way Revis gives us a hometown discount, he has shown that by his prior actions. He's going to want $16 mill per year and I cannot justify paying a CB that type of money.

He's already the highest paid CB in football.

Now he wants to be the highest paid defender in NFL history.

Which means he wants to best Mario Williams' 6 year $100 million contract with the Bills.

So essentially, he wants a contract on par with the best QB's in the game today.

Say it with me, a CB wants Tom Brady/Peyton Manning money.

F*ck that noise
