Why the hell would anyone take a RB like Sanders/Sayers or a passrusher like LT over a HOF QB like Montana, Elway, Marino, etc?

Good points. Tomlinson or Faulk in their prime would be good choices too as they were such a ridiculous double threat in rushing and receiving as well as decent blockers.

There's NO reason to delay the process. Start Geno
Smith.

Lawrence Taylor.
Even Butt Fumble couldn't screw up at least a playoff performance if LT joined the defense. |

http://www.pro-football-reference.co...C/ClayMa00.htm Neither of them were Reed, Rison, Largent, Monk, even Toon. Toon had 2000 less yards in 3 less seasons. Neither Clayton or Duper were elite WR's of their time. Hell, neither were even close to Fryar. Who meddled around with less than 1000 yards per season for all but one season in New England, then suddenly had 1100 then 1300 yards while playing with Marino. I assume you both watched Marino play against the Jets. It was never the Wide Receivers making Marino look good. It was him making the dog crap he was surrounded with look like a pro team. That GM and Bill Polian for what he surrounded Peyton with should both be ashamed. Let me spell it out for you: There are Wideouts who elevate their QB, guys like Randy Moss or Jerry Rice. Transcendental athletes and route runners. Then there are guys who are very good wideouts, but aren't elevating like Moss did or have the amazing route running and hands capabilities that Rice did. I'll give the benefit of the doubt and say that Clayton and Duper were at that level, but I honestly don't believe that. That's more of a level reserved for Reggie Wayne or Marvin Harrison. Just to be clear: Randy Moss and Cris Carter made Daunte Culpepper. You stick them with Mark Sanchez, even he would look good. You stick Culpepper or Sanchez with Harrison, Duper, Wayne, Clayton, or Fryar, and they look terrible again. |

What I don't understand is why anyone would value a HOF RB over a HOF QB. I was however, alive to see Sanders, Payton, etc and I'd take Montana over all of them anyday of the week and twice on Sundays. |

Just look at the Patriots home record over the last 10 years. What's Brady's record vs Payton Payton always had better weapons. Could you imagine Brady in his prime with edgerin James, Dallas Clark, Reggie Wayne ect. As much as I hate Brady, he was near perfect in 2007 & if tyree doesn't make he most ridiculous catch in football history & Welker catches that ball vs Giants he's got 2 more Superbowls. He did his job in both of those losses. |
