What happened to Vladimir Ducasse

Is he just not developing? Anyone have any info on him?

He is slow to pick up on things and is over weight(fat). Was a real project coming in isn't as bad as some on this site tend to think. Improved a lot this year actually looked better then Slauson IMO. Not a viable starter but is OK as a BU. He is worth a roster spot but needs to get in better shape to have a real impact. Fat OL just don't cut it in the league anymore.

Bitonti said that Ducasse had no choice but to succeed in the NFL because of the earthquake in Haiti, so all of you are off base in your evaluations. YOU just can't see the GREATNESS because you're NOT a scout.

Not entirely fair. He has a language obstacle to overcome. The bigger reason for his failure is that he has poor feet. Seems like the nicest guy in the world but he is not athletic enough to move with NFL defenders.

He seems to be comming around as a depth player:

http://nyjetscap.com/2012_Articles/oleval.html

Vlad Ducasse- Ducasse no longer looks like a total disaster on the field which is a major step forward. The last two years you could not even dream of putting him out there without the threat of the QB getting his head taken off. Still in pass protection he would grade out right near the bottom of the NFL for guards. Ducasse allowed 4 less pressures than Slauson in 234 less snaps. There is no comparison between the two. A backup type player.

He speaks English very well actually. He has been in this country sense 2002. I have heard him in interviews his accent isnt even that bad.

He adds good depth at G. Hope he's not a starter next year.

He graduated AMERICAN HIGH FRICKING SCHOOL AND AMERICAN COLLEGE! He has a language barrier????????

Short story: America has no "official" language. Therefore, the state of NY has recently declared that it must staff sufficient translators in 9 Languages at every state medical facility to ensure the "rights" of indigent patients aren't violated.

They are firing doctors and nurses due to budget cuts yet my wife, a state employed psychiatrist, must have a certified translator at every session of an indigent "English as a second language" patient. She is Russian born, yet still has to have a translator for Russian patients since she is not a "certified" translator. Forget the violation of patient privacy, forget the ridiculous cost, this is whiney liberalist PCness at it's best.

Ducasse doesn't understand English? Then he doesn't have the basic skills required to be a football player. Gone! Fired! Period!!!! No tears whatsoever.

OK but I've read many times that he's slow to pick stuff up and has a long learning curve. He's from Haiti but been in this country a long time. Played HS and went to college. So it seems like the language isn't the issue but the IQ.
But I personally don't know.

He just got inducted into the UMASS football HOF.

He is an example of a pick that the average JETS/football fan would never make based on his natural ability. To the eye he is slow and confused looking on the field.

He brings the skills of an undrafted free agent yet we waste a 2 on him.

Someone labels him a development player and well..fish...meet lure.

The Ducasse pick in the 2nd round was enough reason to fire Tanny.

My biggest problem now with the Ducasse failure is it may now be a factor in the Jets not drafting another, a far more exciting, developmental BYU prospect, Ezekiel Ansah ...

I missed it, Vlad was a top 10 pick?

We took a shot on a very athletic, huge, strong player with a pick in the 58-60 range. He wasnt a top 10 pick, wasnt a first rounder or even a high second rounder....he was a pick at the end of the second round, there is nothing wrong with taking a shot there.

Only on this board is a GM supposed to hit on every pick.

Ozzie Newsome took jimmys smith who so far in 2 years has been terrible...guess he should be fired.
