Yeah, the map showing a colored dot for each of the 35 million individual facebook users was a little too confusing, so I showed this one.

It's based on how people "Like" teams. A lot of South Florida Jets fans are older and don't "like" teams on facebook. I haven't liked the Jets on facebook.

Interesting, but of little real value. For example, look at the Redskins rather small area. Well, even a casual observation would show that the region south of Washington (well south) is still a hueg Redskins Fan area all the way down to Carolina (and even in Carolina, the Skins still have alot of fans, mostly older).

But for u, the Jets? Aye, I'd agree we're not a national fanbase team like alot of others, we we're probably not the majority-favorite team outside Nassau County and maybe a few counties in New Jersey. Thats how it goes when you share a City with the Giants.

Enjoy being an underdog.

So according to this map we have the smallest amount of fans yet our stupid team gets the most press. Seems legit

Nassau County is Jets country? Could have fooled me.

Edit* - On a second look, that looks like Queens which makes sense.

Queens is Giants Country.

Thus the reason we were smart not to build a stadium there.

Arrow NFL Fan Loyalty map ( from Facebook ) ~ ~ ~

If you're an NFL fan in Nassau County, chances are you support the New York Jets .

The bad news is that the western tip of Long Island is the only strip of turf in the country where you make up the majority and you're surrounded on all sides by a sea of Giants, Patriots, Steelers, and Eagles fans.

The other bad news is that Mark Sanchez is still your quarterback.

That information—well, except for the Mark Sanchez part—comes courtesy of fascinating new metrics on football fan allegiances put out by Facebook's Data Science team this week. Basically, the social network patched together a fan loyalty map by cross-referencing the site's 32 U.S. million users who've liked a particular NFL team page with their county location.

Someone page SAR so he can dig in on his denial that the Jets fan base is concentrated on Long Island.

Definitely interesting to see, though obviously there are so many flaws with making conclusions about this map.
The author even called the Cowgirls America's team because of that, Even though there's probably more people in the tristate area alone than that entire blob combined (or something close)
For starters, you have to be on Facebook, then you have to "like" your team.

So if I were to draw conclusions about the Jets vs Giants fanbase, I'd say more Giants fans were dorks on facebook than Jets fans.

(Yes I'm on facebook, and yes I like the Jets )

This map is on a county level.

Weird how there's random counties ranging from California to Tennessee that are majority Cowboys. I'm surprised that the Vagiants reach that far west and there's a county or two upstate that are majority Steelers (?). Weird that there's so much Steelers territory in Ohio and Delaware is all Eagles (would think there'd be some Ravens too). Also a little surprised WV is all Steelers and what is the dark blue or purple county in the middle of Florida?

Jets Coming in HOT in Facebook's Analysis of NFL Fans

http://nyc.barstoolsports.com/random...s-of-nfl-fans/

So Facebook analyzed the entire country and where fans of each team come from throughout the US. Just so nobody is confused:

Standard green is the Packers. Obviously they dominate Wisconsin and whatever the **** that is above them.

Philly has their turquoise-ish color. You can see the dominate Southern Jersey and all of Pennsylvania around Philly. Also looks like they got a nice contingency in north Florida.

The bright green color is the Jets fans. As you can see we have half of New Yo…hmmm. Well maybe there’s some people in North Jers…hmmm. Oh no wait there we are:

Half of Nassau County. Hey, nobody has ever been accused of being a bandwagon Jets fan.
