espn says shonn greene is as good as gone.

ESPN New York says impending free agent Shonn Greene is "as good as gone."
The Jets have one of the worst cap situations in the league and Greene is an extremely poor fit for new OC Marty Mornhinweg's West Coast scheme. It's a no-brainer to replace him with a committee spearheaded by Bilal Powell, Joe McKnight and a draft pick that actually has some burst. Greene managed just two runs of 20+ yards all last season. He's still our No. 5 free agent running back, behind Steven Jackson, Reggie Bush, Rashard Mendenhall and Cedric Benson.

All the hate talk around hear is disheartening about Greene. I see his flaws of course BUT I liked the guy. CMART, FMAC, ...who else was better post 1980?

Im sure im missing one but he played hard for us in our 2009 and 2010 runs.

Good luck to him.

Good, he's a terrible player. Let him struggle to get up after every single carry for another team.

I think this was obvious even before Marty got here. It was time for someones new.

I expect a draft pick maybe as high as the 2nd round.

Good times with Greene in 09 & 10. And he was a good player overall for the Jets... but they need to get better at the position. Along with Powell & McKnight they need to find a more versatile, cheaper RB.

good luck Shonn.

That's FMAC, I believe.

Thomas Jones, Johnny Johnson, Curtis Martin, Freeman McNeil, Johnny Hector, Brad Baxter (who Shonn Greene is the reincarnate of), Ladanian Tomlinson, Adrian Murrel, Cedric Houston, Blair Thomas, Leon Washington, Emerson Boozer, Matt Snell, Lamont Jordan, Roger Vick, Richie Anderson.....who else?

Pick the ones out that you wouldn't take over Shonn Greene. There are a few, but not many.

First off, no team would give up a 2nd round pick for a slow RB who can't catch the ball. More like a 4th or 5th round pick at best.

Second, the Jets will get nothing as he is a Free Agent.

it's unfortunate that the Jets won't have any cap space to go after a player like Reggie Bush. he's dynamic and would be a great fit in Marty's offense.

later Shonn.

draft Benard, Taylor or Lacy.

seems like this is a relatively good draft class for RBs, could be good for us.
