Also, Singapore Math because Singapore ranked #1 in math and science in the TIMSS testing.

Multiplication seems to have a lot of new methods, because the topic is so important (foundation of later math). Plus, it's taught in different ways around the world. Most of the methods use place value so that students gain an understanding of the numbers as well as the operation.

Just looking for some advise on any websites or apps we can try to help her out. Right now she's in 4th grade and in the midst of double-digit multiplication and just starting division.

Homework has become an absolute nightmare, could really use some insight if anyone has experiences similar issues.
The best way to help your daughter in math would be to hire a tutor. Expensive but the best short and long-term solution.

Why don't you just try calling her teacher and ask for some guidance? Nowadays a lot of teachers even respond to emails. I'm the teacher would appreciate your anguish.

I hired a college kid to teach my then HS daughter. He had a pony tail, earing etc...

She got the "Wow, kool kids can be good at math" thought.

She passed, got into a good college ..... she still sucks at math though.

So do I.

Well its a good thing accountants don't need anything more than rudimentary arithmetic skills to cook books

Fish- ever look into Kumon? 9 years is about the right time to start, and it's incredible if your kid puts in the work. It's also less than the cost of a weekly tutor.

Be warned though, it's not for the free-spirited...you seriously have to help your kid dedicate herself to it.

Hope this helps.

+Infinity

This is what all of these "new-age" pedagogy gurus are ignoring. If kids learn all these tricks to multiply, more advanced math, even algebra becomes exponentially (pun intended) more difficult.

When I was still teaching some kids showed me some of this wizzardry their elementary teachers taught them. All I could do was face-palm.

Accounting is not really math.... per se. It's arithmetec and occasionally algebra.

On occasion we have to impute interest rates etc...but that's 10th grade algebra.
