Flacco is a good player, but those expecting him to efficiently throw 4000+ yards and 40 TDs next season are going to be sorely disappointed. |

Flacco has effectively one of the top 3 RB's in Football. Pro-Bowlers at both tackle positions, Boldin, one of the most productive Wideouts since he was drafted in the NFL, Torrey Smith an undeniable talent. I don't think Nicks or Cruz are even in the same ballpark with Smith and neither has the career productivity that Boldin has had. While the Giants O-line is OK (Snee is very good), it's not close to the Ravens. Lastly, you get to Rice. Rice is still the key to the Ravens, not Flacco. Cam Cameron was fired not just because his blocking schemes on passing plays stunk, but because he simply was not getting Rice the touches he should have every game. Baltimore's record when Rice gets (don't quote me on this) 25+ touches is incredible. I guarantee you that when Flacco has to throw the ball 40 plus times a game it's not as good. On the flip side, Eli, again, is the best weapon on the Giants offense. If you break it down: Eli elevates people around him to seem awesome. Flacco complements guys who largely are awesome. Give Eli Boldin, Rice, and Smith and see what happens. |

Flacco is going to get paid but I think people need to stop the "Is Flacco Elite?" nonsense. This year shows that winning a ring doesn't automatically make you an elite QB. Flacco just didn't mess up and got extremely lucky on some really poor throws (the deep bomb in the Denver game and the Jones throw in the Superbowl come to mind). He's an elite game manager and a solid QB but you can't honestly say he's now one of the top tier QB's in the game.
Honestly, I don't even think he's better than Tony Romo. |

Flacco's not at Manning, Brady level yet but he is top 10 and better than the Matt Ryans and Tony Romos. |

I would agree now, but I'm not sure I would have said that at any point before January 2013. And there was certainly a time when it looked like Ryan had the higher level skills.

Rice is great but had a disappointing season that culminated with a poor showing in the playoffs where he had 4 or 5 fumbles. He had very little to do with the Ravens playoff run. Explain to me how in any way, shape or form Rice was the "key" to any of the Ravens playoff wins during their run. Pearce was probably their most effective runner in the playoffs. I have no idea where you got some of the craziness from this post, but it's flat out wrong on a lot of levels. Last edited by SlickBri481; 02-08-2013 at 09:51 AM. |

That said I would not consider Flacco elite but a very good game manager at this point. It has been said before but there were some lucky floaters especially against Denver. It is definately a toss up between Romo and Flacco. Romo the better player but has not done anything in the playoffs. If I had to choose I would probably pick Romo. |

I know everyone wants to judge a QB by the playoffs, but usually the true indication of a guy as a player is derived from the regular season. It's all about sample size. 16 games is a better indicator of how you generally play than 3 or 4. To me, that is why Romo is better than Flacco and at least on par with Eli. You can make the argument that Romo has had a couple poor playoff performances, but are you telling me Eli and Flacco haven't? They've just had better all-around teams that gave them more playoff chances. And their teams really rose to the occasion in those big playoff games. You think Romo enjoyed his o-line's meltdown against the Giants in 2007? You think Romo enjoyed his team not being able to run the ball and giving up 350 yards and 4 TDs to Favre against the Vikings in 2009? When Eli had his SB runs, those critical failures in other parts of the team didn't happen. Flacco I'd argue overcame more than Eli ever did just because his special teams melted down against Denver and his D got taken to the woodshed in the SB against the Niners. But his D also held the Pats to 13 points and the Colts to 9. |
