Elvis is really a solo but youd have to count the 50s rockers....Vincent, Cochran etc

in the classic rock era Bowie, Jagger, Daltrey, Plant, Mercury

followed by Rod the Mod, Eric Burdon, Hendrix, Van Morrison, Jim Morrison, Ray Davies, Springsteen, Iggy Pop, Bolan, Prince, Tyler, Elton John, some of the punk brigade - Hynde, Bono, Johnny Rotten, Joe Strummer

followed by Marriott Phil Lynott, Rose, Cobain, Mustaine

not sure about Lou Reed Billy Joel or Joey Ramone

dont think Gene Clark or Keith Relf were really commanding front men

Can't argue with the top choices, but having seen the live a few times - Ian Astbury has to be in the discussion.
