They made a 22 million dollar mistake with A Thomas. Not as bad as Scott or Pace, but a bad deal. |

Right now 90% of the pats offense takes place between the hashes With Gronk running seems, and hernandez and welker running 0s,2s and 4s. The other 10% is Lloyd or branch running 1s and 3s. What they need is WRs running more 7s and 9s to pull the safeties wide. When Lloyd runs a hitch you got all 4 guys between the hashes. So while the guy taking Welkers roster spot will not be Welker talent wise, the change is scheme can help mask the loss. The pats need a guy like Hill, but one who can catch. Guys to replace Branch and Welker to me are Brandon Gibson and Devery Henderson and re-sign Endleman. All three can be had for the price of Welker. I feel confident that Brady, BB and McDaniel can adjust 20% of the pass plays and still be one of the top 3 in passing offenses Last edited by patman; 02-11-2013 at 08:12 AM. |

What does that have to do with the 2012 season he's referring to? The 2009 offense was literally nothing but Moss and Welker, naturally it was anemic once Welker went down. The 2012 offense was much more diverse.

The Patriots offense was fine before Welker and they'll be fine after he's gone. They'll simple adjust. As long as they have Brady they'll be fine. Period.

So you picked on game in which Welker didn't play, nonetheless 4 seasons ago, and you think you proved a point? Brilliant!

The problem with the management of the Pats is that they want things both ways. They don't want to pay him for what he's done and also don't want to pay him going forward either because he's worn out. He was smart to take the 9.5 million. |

That was not a drop on Welker in the Super Bowl. That was a terrible pass by Brady and Welker made a great effort to even get his hands on it. Wrong shoulder and behind him at full speed down the seam! That should have been a TD and Brady's signature Super Bowl moment but he choked!!!

Yeah, Brady is really holding back that offense. The Pats haven't had a WR who can stretch the field since Moss, and even he was ineffective at gaining separation by the time he was shipped out of town. Brady's deep ball isn't good, but it's not terrible, either. If you gave him someone who can actually get behind a safety or beat man coverage once in a while, he'd throw deep far more often.

I realize speaking negatively about golden boy gets people in a twist....but's he's a ****ty down the field passer. Im not talking about bombs(which he's not very good at either) Im talking about the types of throws Rodgers can make consistently...that even Flacco makes....Eli can make...what Russel WIlson was doing last year.... Brady isnt that type of passer. They're extremely well coached and he's accurate as hell within 10 yards...but when teams press and force the Pats to beat them...they struggle a bit. |

Mallet might have the strongest arm in the NFL.
