Former Georgia linebacker Alec Ogletree, a likely first-round pick in the 2013 draft and one of the top prospects at inside linebacker, was arrested recently for DUI.

“Last weekend, my client Alec Ogletree was pulled over for speeding and a lane violation in Arizona,” agent Pat Dye tells PFT. “After the officers smelled alcohol, they conducted tests and also cited him for DUI. Although Alec regrets this incident terribly, he is thankful that there was no accident and that no one was hurt. Because this matter is still pending, we cannot comment further publicly at this time.”

It’s not the first red flag on Ogletree’s record. During the 2012 college football season, Ogletree was suspended four games by the Bulldogs after a positive drug test.

That incident didn’t seem to affect his draft stock. The next question is whether the latest one will. Either way, it will give scouts and coaches plenty of fodder for questions at the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

They are dumb.

It has everything to do with the fact that these kids are pampered from an early age and told that because of their ability they can do no wrong.

Some of them eventually learn how to act like responsible adults, some don't. It's very tough to figure out which ones will eventually figure it out.

This kid is a tremendous player, but he seems like a chucklehead.

It is amazing, hopefully for his wallet he blew a .1 or something and not a .15. Telling a GM that you had 3 beers and drove after dinner. But if it is a .15 and it happened at 1AM it will cost him.

That and many of these kids have little structure at home. Some of these programs do not really help things either. Any kid can screw up, from any program, but some of these schools do nothing to instill discipline or enforce it. They ignore character issues that are evident in High School and still offer them scholarships based solely on talent. However, there are some GREAT kids who come from bad situations and turn into great players and men on and off the field.
