Old and/or obsolete electronics you don't know what to do with...Whatcha got???

There are several categories of electronics

1. Brand new, cool, functional (latest cellphone, OLED TV, etc.)
2. Older, still functional, just not quite as cool (the standard DVD player)
3. Really old, kinda functional, but maybe best suited for a 3rd world country (the rotary phone, a standalone AM radio)
4. Super old...but so old that maybe it's cool again (LP turntable, hipster doofus technologies)

Whatcha got lying around in category 3 and 4? I'm sitting on some old stuff...like a cellphone the size of a briefcase and a 286 computer (circa 1991?). Not sure whether to discard, throw them on eBay, hold on or whatever.

Is there a use for these things? Do you actually hold on to any of them in hopes that they become collectibles (I'm thinking NO)?

At the same time, it's not quite environmentally helpful to dumpster stuff like this so I'm looking for a good option for disposal.

I have a 12" black and white TV Which was the first thing of value I ever owned (other then my bike), I purchased it via mowing lawns and such in 1974.

I have some walkie talkies I bought at about the same time.

And then this beast I bought used in 1979,

all of this stuff still works fine, the stereo is golden, but a huge beast in comparison to modern equiptment.

Had it since I was 14/15. It's from the 80s, so it's pretty outdated. The harddrive in it died, too. Still, it works good as an effects board/amp simulator, so it's worth keeping around.

It's only a matter of time before someone posts a picture of a Marantz-something.

Toss that old crap, but always check on ebay first before you do - be sure to check completed listings too. Otherwise throw it out you hoarder.

DO you pose your marrionettes at the various equipment and take photos?

"Jules enjoying a Sega interlude"

N64 is still really popular among college students. Great drinking game for it.
