Who cares?
Both these guys are douchebags. I'll take a dominant passrusher like Watt or Ware over a shutdown corner anyday of the week. |

They are CBs in a league where you aren't allowed to play pass defense. Quote:

sherman's the one who's looking like an idiot. the guy has 2 seasons in and thinks he can talk trash to the guy who everyone in the NFL is saying is potentially the best defensive player in the NFL, let alone the best DB in NFL history? revis has a right to be ticked. i'll be pissed if the jets get rid of revis this off season.

Think the Texans would trade JJ Watt straight up for Revis?

Revis being the best CB doesn't mean he's the best defensive player in the league, lol.

Agreed, CBs are a luxury. A lot of defensive coordinators don't even use them in their schemes. They have OLBs cover wideouts and ILBs cover slot receivers.
Besides, the league is moving toward power-running from jumbo sets. It's trickling up from creative offensive coordinators at the college level who are doing dynamic things with split belly and iso plays. Nearly impossible to defend. |

I personally thought Revis could make the case for being the best defensive player in the nfl in 2009. That is probably by far the best cornerback play I've ever seen over a whole season (I'm only 22 so I didn't get the opportunity to see Deion Sanders in his prime unfortunately). Just incredible how consistent he was, and he was going up against some of the best recievers in the NFL week after week and absolutely shut them down. Revis' 2010 and 2011 seasons weren't as incredible, partially due to setting the bar so impossibly high, but it was still great, great play. I think you also have to take into account that the position he plays is arguably the hardest position to play in the nfl. I think at this point, with his injury, and the emergence of J.J. Watt, you probably can't say best defensive player in the nfl, but it's definately not the craziness thing I've heard on JI, and I think you can still make the case for top 5. Not most valuable, but just best at what he does. All this is coming from a dolphins fan so there aren't any biases.
