BANDS you HATED then, but admit you love today......
Dickie will begin:
B52's - Being a metalhead in the 80's, this was a no-no. Today I love them. One of the best bands ever..........they rock out super hard. The second half of rock lobster (that never made it onto the radio) makes me want to punch something cus it is so rocking DEVO - pretty much the same reasons as stated above GRATEFUL DEAD - Now Ive been a deadhead for a long time...since 1991....but when I first heard them when I was like 14 or 15 as a metalhead in the early 80's, I was expecting something very hard rock. I was excited and curious.....but OMG I couldnt believe my ears. Then I heard some live tapes and wondered how a band this sloppy and gay could ever be popular. Today, if I could listen to only one bands catalog for the rest of my days it would be the dead by a longshot. Next..... |

To the question I think it is easier to reverse that and ask which bands you liked then and now don't... my answer Yes

Huey Lewis and the News.
I used to think they were a little too new wave for my tastes. But when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical, sense of humor |

Really couldn't stand Yes back in the 70's and 80's. Now I can't stop listening to them.
U2 is another. A more current band is Maroon 5. They grow on you! |

Pretty much have to agree with you on the Dead & the B52s...the first two albums (Wild Planet and the other) are awesome.

Hey I worshiped those dudes (i thought Zep was "better") I have transcriptions of Bruford's drumming on Close to the Edge; I have the entire score. But I don't listen to them these days...I went with the crowd a bit back then, I guess.
