costco has a 55" samsung lcd i think for great deal like $750.

Just had a Samsung 55" ES6100 smart tv delivered to my new apartment. Cable guy comes tomorrow and I haven't fully moved yet. I'll let you know what I think tomorrow.

Don't think it's that cheap, but it's still around 1k which a great deal for that TV. I know exactly which one you're talking about. The picture is outstanding.

Just got the 60" Samsung UN60ES7100. Great LED TV with built-in WiFi and apps like Netflix, etc. Wall mounting it next week. It was just over $1700 from Amazon when I ordered in January.

If you aren't 100% set on getting an LCD I would suggest taking a look at the Panasonic VT50. Comes in 55" ans 65".

a Panasonic Plasma is a lot of bang for the buck. If you dont need a ton of inputs and you don't have a bright room, then a ut50 in particular once you customize the setup will give satisfying results at a very affordable price. It lacks the aggressive louver filter that is found in upscale Panasonic Plasma's which is actually a good thing.

I picked up a 50" (also have a 55") for $549 shipped/no tax from Amazon about a month ago. They price matched Frys...

Good luck, you really can't go wrong with any tv these days.
I prefer to avoid the latest technology, "best" as tv technology is booming and in 2 years the new base $500 models will be better than the one you bought now for $2500.

Reminds me of what happened with computers...
