I was an 8 year old kid at that game. I remember watching it and thinking "how is nobody tackling him How is it even possible to run that back for a td from there?" Somehow deep down then I knew I had a lifetime of sporting torment being a Jets fan.

I miss John Madden ... nothing like an old geezer getting excited about football.

@ConorTOrr: Thurman says of Antonio Allen and Josh Bush: "I don't know if they'll improve enough to start, but they have to improve." #nyj #jets

"Every man on our team has to improve if we're going to get better. It's no different than any other year. You want your guys to get better."

Thurman, who didn't delve much into the Darrelle Revis situation, also said that he hasn't hashed out the play-calling duties with Rex Ryan yet. He doesn't seem to have a problem if things remain the same, though.

“Rex and I haven’t really talked about it. I have no problem if Rex wants to call it. If we do it like we’ve done it in the past, my input will always be there,” he said. “It’s not really the call — it’s how you play the call. So who’s calling it really doesn’t matter to me — it’s how the guys out there on the field are performing the call is what matters the most.”

@ConorTOrr: Kotwica says hiring former #Jets punter Louie Aguiar will help him communicate technical language with kickers and punters.

@ConorTOrr: Mornhinweg asked what attracted him to the #Jets: "Well, that's a great question. I love challenges." Hoo boy.

@ConorTOrr: Mornhinweg said West Coast offense/short route tie is a bit of a misnomer. Looking for a "big play" mentality. #nyj

“We’re going to go after people,” Mornhinweg said. “There are different ways to go after people, but we’re going to go after ‘em and we’re going to play to our players’ strengths rather than concerning ourselves too much about their weaknesses. If a man can’t do that, then we’ll get another player that can for that particular play."

God, I remember that one. I loved those early '90s squads and felt that they were always on the cusp of doing some very good things but kept falling short by sometimes shocking means. The Bills often completely derailed our seasons back then, much like the Pats do now. Another one of those SoJ moments that remind you of the horrid misfortune in the face of near-victory this franchise and fanbase have endured time and time again.

Keep in mind, to this day, we have still never beat the Eagles in a regular season game, and that may have been the closest we've come to doing it in the last twenty years. *sigh...* To me, beating the Eagles is one of those lingering demons that needs to be defeated before this team can get over the SoJ curse.

I have an autographed card of Eric Allen (got it in a pack... NFL Pro Line if I remember?) and I wanted to tear and burn it that day. Still got it somewhere though.
