Jets have “good” offer on table for Revis per PFT

Jets have “good” offer on table for Revis

Posted by Mike Florio on March 11, 2013, 9:46 PM EDT

AP
A day ago, the chances of Percy Harvin and Anquan Boldin being traded before Darrelle Revis would have been regarded as slim, at best.

But Harvin and Boldin are both changing teams, while Revis remains a Jet.

So how much longer will he be one? Possibly, not much.

A league source tells PFT that the Jets have an offer on the table for Revis. Per the source, the offer is a “good” one, both as to the compensation given to the team and the financial package that would be extended to Revis.

Another source tells PFT that, if such an offer has been made, the financial component has yet to be shared with the Revis camp. To date, the Jets and Revis have had no talks, and the Jets have not given Revis’s agents permission to talk to other teams regarding a new contract.

On Monday, owner Woody Johnson declined to discuss the situation during a press conference regarding the joint NFL-GE concussion initiative that he would answer questions about Revis “next week,” presumably at the league meetings in Arizona.

It’s believed that, during the annual March get-together, the Jets will make a strong push to work out a deal, possibly with Johnson directly negotiating terms with other owners.

Still, someone eventually needs to negotiate terms of future compensation with Revis, or whoever acquires the player will have a one-season situation.

Saw something about us owing revis a 1 million dollar bonus sometime soon.

Maybe Idzik is trying to get a deal done asap.

Arent the vikings a perfect fit for revis now?

they just got a boatload of picks for percy harvin. Can take that package and send it the jets way for revis. They have the 23rd and 25th pick in the draft

They play in a division with Calvin Johnson and Brandon Marshall, 2 of the premier WR's in the game. Not to mention Aaron Rodger's passing attack is pretty darn good too.

They just rehabbed a player back from ACL surgery and it was probably the most successful case every done. If anyone can get Revis back to full strength in would be this medical staff.

So Whats the hold up?

I love these articles that cite 'a league source' or 'a team source'.

Steaming pile of fiction.

PFT and incarcerated BOB are very similar in the sense that they just throw stuff out there. How about a little more substance? how about naming the team or offer and staking some of your reputation on it?

PFT tweeted earlier today that Harvin was not getting traded (tweet has been removed) and 20 minutes later Harvin was gone...

I don't want to trade Revis, but if he goes, there better be atleast one first rounder involved.

did anyone else notice how many non sequitors were in that article?

this could be PR - Jets give offer - let Revis turn it down, then they're scot-free to trade a disgruntled player

Jets fans are acting like we're in store for 10x 1st round picks b/c the Vikings got a 1st for Harvin. Newsflash: Harvin actually played football last season and is not coming off a serious knee injury.

Other newsflash: The 49ers just blew their load on trading for Boldin and his money so that possibly takes out the most likely suitor.

A 6th rounder and Boldin's money is not blowing their load.

Boldin is getting $6 mil next season and he won't take a paycut.

A 'colossal disappointment' according to Rotoworld.

He wouldn't take a paycut from Baltimore...big difference.

I would be very happy with the 13th Benn and a 4th.

Having the 9th and 13th would permit the jets to possibly draft GENO if available @9 and still get a OLB like Jones/MIngo/Ansah @13.

They run a Cover 2, so their scheme isn't really designed for a player of Revis's caliber.
