I've been saying for months now that the Pats should not give Welker a long-term contract and if he leaves via FA, it will not be a big deal. |

What a stupid article. Leaving your QB short handed is what the Jets did to Mark Sanchez (yes he still is bad, but the Jets skill position players leave a LOT to be desired). Belichick has given Brady Branch, Givens, Patten, Graham, Welker, Moss, Hernandez, Gronk, Lloyd, Faulk, Woodhead and a bunch of other solid role players as receivers. Christ even if Amendola gives them nothing (which is far from a given) he still has Lloyd, Hernandez and Gronk. Those guys would get meaningul time on most teams. Brady is a great QB, but lets get real here.

This is Belichick's master plan to give Brady's targets away to Peyton and let him load up and leave Brady with nothing, so when Brady puts up a better offense we can prove who is the best.

People keep talking about Amendola but he's a health risk. But no one mentions Julian Edeleman? I think he's very underrated, no?

He always seems to be nicked up and he scares the hell out of me the way he carries the football. He's a turnover waiting to happen. |

Several teams, however, have won more Super Bowls than the Patriots over the past decade. But hey, I hear the "regular season championship" trophy is shiny

It IS a big deal up to a point. It's just not something insurmountable for the Pats. They signed Amendola, and it doesn't mean that they'll be doing the same thing with him. Welker was a big part of Brady's success. You can't just up and forget that. BUT, point is that BB is the best at adjusting. Losing Welker should and does hurt. It doesn't mean the Pats will be a bad team. |

People love to ***** and moan about the Pats. As much media love as the Jets get, the Pats are even more of a draw - they just don't usually do or say as much. But when the Pats do anything, it's a big deal. The Pats will win double-digit games as always and the real difference between that and a Super Bowl win will come from the minor FA pickups and draft pickups. Everyone remembers the Ocho and Haynesworth pickups and forgets the Anderson and Carter pickups that were great moves for a struggling defense, not to mention Brian Waters who was a rock on their OL for a year. Lol @ this writer. He acted as though R. Seymour did something when he left the Pats. How did Branch do with the Seahawks? How did Vrable and Cassel do with the Chief? How did Assante Samuel do in Philly? The list goes on and on. I like a coach who have some balls to make such tough decision. Rex talk tough but dont have the balls to make such decision.
