Well to be completely fair here, the defensive stats should be even better because they got penalized for fumble returns for TDs and pick 6's plus having to play in bad field position with our sucky offense.

Rex should really resign as HC and go get a DC job somewhere. It is really what her prefers to do, and he is not good at the HC stuff anyway.

That being said, the Oakland Raiders are at 3 and this would be the classic Oakland pick, even if Al Davis isn't there. Last edited by Eckesg1; 03-20-2013 at 12:44 PM. |

Patterson needs to learn to use his hands when catching the ball as well, uses his body way too much. As a receiver Patterson is not an elite prospect, his ability to run with the ball is what is raising his value.

To compare patterson to hill is a smack in the face to patterson. THe playmaking ability this kid has compared to what hill had coming out is not even close. Just watch the film.

Please, if you go by highlight reels every player looks like a first round pick. Still doesnt change the fact that he lets the ball get into his body too much and needs work running routes. Once the ball is in his hands he is great, he just isnt a great receiver.

Yet. Just like most players, for all positions, coming into the NFL. Which is why coaching, teaching and development is so important but rarely talked about. |

I am all for adding play makers, was all about drafting Floyd last year, preached all pre season on the need to bring in another vet WR. The draft just doesnt line up that way at #9 this year. It just sucks that the Jets have a top 10 pick in a year where there are no QBs, WRs, or RBs worth taking that high.

I haven't looked it up but I have to think that the Jets were the leaders in TD returns against, no? Have to be at least near the top if not the leader.

as good a job rex has done here defensively, his job, ironically, may hinge on whether he's able to improve the offense. making this task infinitely more challenging is that there does not appear to be any available qb upgrade. absent this, the best way to give the offense some juice is to get someone who can take an 8 yard slant to the house. the jets have nobody who can do this. and the odds of the jets drafting someone who can do this, decreases each round they take a defensive player. to wit, if the jets take, say, mingo, the chances of finding a stud playmaker decrease in the 2nd. if they then take a safety in the 2nd, the odds decrease even more. at some point the jets will have to take the chance in the first round offensively, the way they did with gholston. or else they'll always have two built in excuses for why the jets fail: 1) they have no qb and 2) they drafted BAP who always happens to be a defensive guy in the first round. . |

Patterson looked quite impressive from that highlight reel.
Not at #9 though. A lot of those plays were made against inferior teams with poor athleticism. I don't see his combine numbers reflecting that those plays will translate to the NFL. |

busts happen at every position. but the odds of getting stud players are higher in the first than in other rounds.
