A former Tennessee Titans cheerleader was arrested after being accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy she claims to have mistook for a man.

According to a Murfreesboro Police Department report obtained by Black Mountain News, Elizabeth Leigh Garner, 42, was having drinks at the victim’s home in February. At one point, the pre-teen went to use the bathroom and was followed by Garner.

“He stated she was asking him if he had ever been with a woman,” the report said. The boy claimed she then fondled him on the outside of his shorts and tried to take them off, saying she would perform oral sex on him.

Frightened, the boy escaped the bathroom and told his mother what happened.

Garner said she was drunk at the time and had the boy “confused with a man that was also at the residence,” according to the report.

In an off-camera interview with NewsChannel 5, Garner said she was innocent.

“There’s just absolutely no excuse for sexual assaulting a child. If you can’t tell the difference between a 12-year-old and an adult then there are problems,” Kyle Evans of the MPD told the station.

Garner, a Nashville resident and a cheerleader for the Titans four years ago, was indicted on one count of sexual battery and one count of soliciting a minor.

She was later released on $30,000 bond.
